What's the skinny on Lehman????

I am finding out that there is a possibility that Lehman will be folding. If so, what does that do to the TriGlide?

I am currently in the VERY serious stage of purchasing one and I don't want to be kicking myself a year from now after dropping close to 30 grand and then finding out that I can't get any more parts, service, support.

Does anyone have any definitive answers?........

The triglide is built exclusively by Harley Davidson now. Lehman definitely was involved in the early ones, but not for the past couple of years. If you are buying an '11 or '12, you don't need to worry about Lehman's circumstances in connection with your trike.

What is the latest on Lehman, anyone know? Cherokee Trikes and More in Greer SC was the worlds largest Lehman dealer and built the first Harley Davidson trike for HD to evaluate. They say they can't order any parts from Lehman. I have an 05 Lehman/05 Ultra Classic and am worried if I damage the body I won't be able to get parts.

When I was trike shopping a few weeks ago and still considering a conversion I tried repeatedly to call them but got some kind of cryptic message about trying again later as they were "reorganizing" or something to that effect. It occurred to me then that given Harley is now building their own trikes Lehman could be seriously adversely affected. When I later talked to the service manager at a large HD dealership who was a Lehman conversion station he told me they were toast. He said they were looking for a buyer but unlikely to find one in this economy. My thought was if Lehman couldn't make it work, who could?

If Cherokee takes credit for building the first trike for Harley to evaluate and inspire their Triglide line, then it makes sense that Cherokee should be able to manufacture any parts you might need on the Triglide. Looks like problem solved.

Lee H. Man I don't know what you are talking about. Harley sent a bike and Lehman sent them a trike kit and they put things together. From what I was told, if you know differently let me know.

Lehman laid off all employees and closed their doors in March, '12. They are currently trying to find financing. They are owned by a Canadian company.

Actually the HD Tri-Glide may have been partly responsible for the demise of Lehman. From what I have found on the internet and our local HD dealer (a Lehman dealer) is that the 2009 and 2010 Tri-Glide was partially built by Lehman. HD entered into an agreement with Lehman to produce the HD Tri-Glide. HD would build the front part of the trike at York and then send it to Lehman who would then finish off the rear of the bike making it a trike. Lehman would then send it back to HD at York and HD would then send it out to the dealers. All of the body work used HD paint so there was no problem with color match. In 2010 HD decided to produce the entire 2011 Tri-Glide at York. They made some changes to the rear frame work but otherwise stayed with the styling as it was. That is the reason the hitches for the 2009 and 2010 (Lehman rear frame) are different than the 2011 and 2012 (HD rear frame). Lehman was busy during 2009 and 2010 building the Tri-Glide but once it left them they only had their own operation. The Tri-Glide became very popular and so sales of the Lehman conversions dropped off. There was talk of problems at Lehman even before the death of John. I still think Lehman makes (made) a good product and I hope that somewhere out there some company or investment group can bring them back. I would even thinik that CSC, Motor Trike or another trike conversion company could look at using them just to give them another outlet. Spearfish is near Sturgis and lots of people go by there every year. Lots of visibility.
