Default Gold Wing Motor Trike Air Questions

OK...when I recieved the 2010 Gold Wing Motor Trike (Stock Rake Adventurer), it had 26# in the rear tires, 24# in the air shocks, and 38# in the front tire. I started with rear tire pressures, then shock pressures, settling on 20# in the rear tires and 38# in the rear shocks......much improved...!!!.....now, I put the front tire on 42# a while ago, but haven't gotten to ride it yet.....are these numbers soundin' close ???....my suspension/air tuning consists of many years of motorcycle riding, and car racing, so any more experienced "Trike-Jockeys" chime right in.....in advance, THANKS......

OK.....had to go back to 39# in the front tire....42# really felt bad, and 36# was terrible. Probably goin' with an E-Z Steer kit soon also....

skuuter...... Make the EZ steer a priority! It will make a huge difference for you, and you will wish you had done it sooner.

Figured that out after ridin' a Friend's identical Trike this mornin' with it on there. World of difference workin' mountain twisties (we live in a mountainous area)....much quicker, easier transition from tight left to rights on super narrow roads.....THANKS....

I have the same questions that Skutter did re the tire pressures. Mine is a 06 Goldwing with a Hannigan kit. Book calls for 28 in the rear tires and 35 in the front. The shop that did the kit tells me to put 41 in the front tire to get more miles out of the tire and leave the rear tires at 28. I know I'm feeling every little bump in the handlebars. Is 41 too much?

I have an 1800 2003 GW Motor Trike. I always run 40# in the front 22# in the rear tires and 50# in the rear shocks. BUT, I weigh in at 275 and I almost always pull a 1940 Ford trailer. I could drop the shocks a few lbs but then everytime my wife get s on I would have to adjust the shocks. This works best for me without having to adjust them.

I finally settled on 40 lbs in the Michelin Rear mounted on the Front, 20 lbs in the Rear Tires, and 38 lbs in the Air Shocks.....works well for me pretty much all the time under all conditions and road types....single or 2-up.....:wtg:

I weigh 165 lbs, my Wife weighs 1XX lbs......

Mines also an 06 Wing w/Hannigan.
I had the ADV disabled, run 41#'s in the front and have a 4.5deg EZ steer.
The "bumps" in the front suspension are not as harsh as when it was a 2 wheeler but, I still feel them!
I am not convinced I need to spend approx. $1,000 and hope it's better!
I am satisfied to leave it alone w/the improvement the Hannigan made in the ride!

For Motor Trike conversions the normal air pressure for the rear tires is 22-24 lbs and the front is 38lbs. As far as the air shocks go you normally set it at 20-25 lbs for 1 rider and 30-35 for 2 riders.

Please educate me. How does adding a fork brace cause more rear end "lean"? Really want to know more about this.

The Trike turns so much quicker, You have a tendency to run up closer to the turn before starting Your turn-in. It takes less handlebar movement to complete it also. The front transitions much quicker, sending more load to the outside rear wheel more abruptly. At first I thought it was my imagination, but I removed/re-installed the SUPER BRACE twice and rode the same familiar twisties very aggressively. Yep, 45 lbs to stop the roll, that 35 had taken care of before.

We did this to another Local Trike here also with the same results. He had complained to my Dealer about it wallowing around after installing the SUPER BRACE. I bumped His up on my lunch hour....came by next day and told me "Problem solved".....

So Skuuter, have you had the ez steer done yet or is the super brace on with the normal front end? And do you like it with the super brace or better with out it? Does the super brace make the front end feel funny?

Sorry for so many questions but, after checking alot of different conversions I settled on MT partly because I have a installer about 5 miles from home. Everything else would have been 400 + away. I have a brace already on my 2 wheeler and was just wondering what you thought before they start the conversion next week.

    Thank YOU!
    Doug
