Re: Yeah - I remember that!
LOL - I have had that bumber sticker on 3 cars.
Going to Sturgis from Minnesota along I-90 it seemd that the magazines noted on the billboards got less reputable as you got closer to Wall.
Just over the Minnesota border it would be "Wall Drug as seen in Time Magazine" - half way accross South Dakota you would see "Wall Drug as seen in People Magazine" - 50 miles out of Wall - "Wall Drug as seen in the National Enquirer"
Back to the topic at hand
Dad was a hockey coach, and to get game films in 1969 or '70 the school got a reel to reel video tape recorder for the athletic department. Used 1/2 inch tape, a small (for it's day) camera, and it was, of course, only black and white. Very high tech for the time

I was in and Charleston, SC and went into the Moon Pie Store. Of course they sell Moon Pies and RC Cola, but they also sell Zotz, Laffy Taffy, Sugar Bears and believe it or not you can still buy boxes of candy cigarettes (with the "lit" red ends on them).

Re: Yeah - I remember that!
Yup, those openers usually had a triangle point on one end to open cans, and the other was rounded to open bottles. We called them Church Keys. Not sure why, but some folks did use them religiously.

Think they called it a church key for the sake of irony--you know, because it's a beer opener, not something usually connected with a church. Hey Ozy--that's right up your alley--weren't you the one who suggested I call my silver trike "Goldie"?

Re: Yeah - I remember that!
OOOPS just thought of this. Did u ever play coin or Card toss. You would throw a penny or nickel up against the bottom of a wall the one that landed closest took the pennies. Or with trading cards the one that stood up against the wall won. Of course the big boys played stretch with a knife ( you threw the knife into the ground and you had to touch it with your foot to remove it and throw it ) sort of like twister.

Re: Yeah - I remember that!
Yep...we'd even play "pennie on the line" on the sidewalk.
Also shot a lot of marbles. Had "steelies" for shooters and would only play for "keepsies". The smaller kids would only play for "funsies".

That game about the money was called "pitch & toss". I remember practising for days on end. I was very good at this game and made a fortune when at school.

Soupy Sales, The Three Stooges, hard and stale Bazooka Bubble Gum (great way to break your teeth), Popeye the Sailor. The wax bottles with syrup, Bonomo Turkish Taffy, saddle shoes. 78 rpm records, Brownie box cameras, Schwinn Stingray bicycles with metalflake seats. My father had an old Sony reel to reel tape recorder and it came with two speakers, a Panasonic Quaddraphonic am/fm multiplex radio, pocket transistor radios, Naru jackets.

Re: Yeah - I remember that!
We only got 3 chan on our TV. We had a Zeinith woth the Hallo light was 18" console the light around the screen gave the impression it was bigger I guess. Any way the little plastic chan. disk broke off so you had to count 1,2, 3 and then go back to the beginning stop and count 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, for the next chan Can. 30 was a bummer.

Did you ever make a chain using gum wrappers. You folded it a certain way and wove them together. A radio station had a contest to see who could make the longest one . A girl showed up with one over 100 feet long.

When I was young(ger ) hats made of beer cans were a rage. Cut the top and bottom off, cut and flatten out the side, punch holes along the edge and the seams were crocheted to allow for fit.
