TOI-TX Chapter Spring Event!!
Folks, I need some good input from our 100+ (!) members on who wants to meet up where some time between the end of March and the beginning of May . . . have had suggestions about Palo Duro Canyon, Padre Island, Big Bend - - - but not a consensus!
Can you let me know soon where and when you'd like to have a Meet 'N' Greet??

Big Bend would be my vote, more toward the end of March though rather than May...simply due to the temperature out there. Lots of good things to do and see. Nice riding

That's pretty far for a lot of folks; I was thinkin' something more central. Maybe a get together in Luckenbach or Fredricksburg . . .

Re: TOI-TX Chapter Spring Event!!
Lots of rallies and rides going on in the hill country.
I do a search using words like "motorcycle rallies texas" and come up with several sites that list a bunch of rallies. Seems like there's a lot of them around the hill country - particularly Bandera and Leaky where they can ride the Twisted Sisters and hang out at the motorcycle bar in Leaky. It is a nice area to be in, as is Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg is always my FIRST choice although its so crowded. We often park the motorhome at Mason and meander down to Fbsg on the bikes for a day-trip. Mason is low-key and relaxing. It has a little 9-hole golf course right next to the camp ground.
Living in West Texas I would tell you that even in late March Big Bend is, to my opinion, HOT. We always saved that ride for early March (its usually very WARM then) or November. Plus it gets a LOT of spring-breakers in March and the accomodations are pretty limited. People either appreciate it or dislike it. If you appreciate really simple, rugged beauty and the thought of its being pretty-much the last frontier in the sourthern United States, you will like it. If you are thinking its got a lot of neat places to stop and shop, places to eat and luxury accomodations - you're going to be very disappointed and think its a waste of time and gasoline. When you get back to Alpine, Marfa and Fort Davis is where you'll find more of the shopping/eating. The Loop ride at Fort Davis is fun - and McDonald Observatory is awesome. In the past we have driven to Valentine just for the fun of having our Valentines post-marked at Valentine, TX. There's not much more there to see although we did walk through the old cemetary and found it interesting. I have personally seen the Marfa Lights - in 1971 while attending Sul Ross Univ. at Alpine. Have tried many times since and not seen them again. We haven't been out there since the horrible fires they had last year. We have had friends tell us it is looking a little better.
We're all ears from here! Keep us posted Blondie... Thanks!

Having some trouble here getting a date for the Spring Event. Scalp Hunter's having surgery on his shoulder, and we're waiting to see if/when he can ride again this spring.
More information pending - hang in there!!

Sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery. Hope all turns out well for him.
Don't worry about the "fling"..... October is nice to ride in Texas also!

It would be nice to see it central in the US for all. Before holiday in May! Nashville would be great!

I will vote for Luckenbach or Fredricksburg or anywhere in the hill country.
