GL1800 starter issue ???
Symptoms:
On occasion it will not crank or do anything. Headlamps dim out but nothing. Also on occasion it will not stay in reverse, rolls a foot and then knocks itself out of reverse.
The owner had replace 2 solenoids, battery and handlebar switch assembly.
The owner presented the GL1800 Motor Trike to me to check over and see if I could fix it. It was unclear who had been doing the repairs but I suspect it was he. We tested the trike on numerous occasions and could not get a failure.
Today, I went to start it and it happened. All of the symptoms. We determined it was one of the solenoids. Upon inspection, he had only replaced one of the solenoids. I asked him about it today and he said he replaced one on 2 separate occasions.
Diagnosis:
I would suggest that anyone replacing either the A or B solenoid, replace both since they rely on each other and one can damage the other.
That is my NEW POLICY !!!ThumbUpThumbUp

I fully agree! Especially in our trike configuration. Getting to those solinoids is a job as a two wheeler. As a trike it's a real job. I did both a few years ago on my '06 Motor Trike. Had the exact symptom.... :xszpv::xszpv:

Starter Relay Switch A and B relays. They are below and behind the battery. Here is a page out of my '06 shop manual that will help. :xszpv: :xszpv:
