Default Trike-in Vacation

Wow, did we ever have a great time! Our first mini vacation on the trike. The TRI Central Region sponsored at trike in near Litchfield, Ill. (just north of St. Louis) June 11-14. We rode the 270 miles there, (in the rain of course) and met some of the friendliest folks we have ever encountered! Of course we invited them to join us here at TT, so maybe we'll see 'gypsy triker' and 'jjtriker' over here some day. jj has a custom Honda Rune/champion trike, very cool indeed, and gypsy has a beautifully painted (by Sue Hopper) GL trike. While we were there, Charlie D pulled in with his beautiful Stallion! It was the first one I had actually seen up close and personal. Charlie should be a salesman for M/T. LOL.
Anyway, we rode, ate, drank, swapped tall tales, made some new friends, and really had a great time. About 50 or so trikes there. We stayed an extra day, and got to ride back (in the rain) yesterday.
Oh... pictures... well, Reenie will never let me live this down, so here's what happened. I remembered to bring the camera, but unfortunately left the battery on my desk, safe and sound in the charger........

Yup, the Tri-Glide front end now has 1000+ miles on it. Absolutely no problems, works great! Reenie even rode it 20 or 30 miles, and was quite happy with it. I'll probably lose it to her later this summer, LOL.
I spoke with a couple who had just had their HD converted with a DFT Smoothy kit (all black-real nice) and they had gone back and had the dealer install the Champion EZ Steer... They weren't too happy when I told them what the TG trees cost....
Camera? battery? you don't need that do ya? We did take some pics with the i-phone camera, so I'll download those......

Sounds great! Well, except for the rain, and the left-behind battery.

In prep for next trip, maybe sign up for some drawing classes, so you can make some sketches...in lieu of a camera-with-battery. Gotta love the cell phone camera though--better than nothing.

Great pics! Loved the slideshow with music - I didn't realize Photobucket would do that, but it really was a nice addition. Thanks for sharing!!

Left camera batts behind? Next time get a Cannon camera that uses standard AA batts. There are other brands that use standard batteries as well -- I just happen to have Cannons. One thing about using the AA baterys in cameras -- the Energizer Lithium batteries are worth the extra expence. On my trip to Sturgis & points beyond last summer, the lithiums would last 4 - 6 days of serious picture taking. I had to get the regular Duracell once in Dodge City & they lasted 1 day. By then I'd found a "Wally World" & restocked on Energizers. I had real concerns about charging my phone & net book while on the road, but I rigged up an inverter inside the Tour Pak & it worked fine. Yeah, I even took a 'puter along -- needed it to keep the Zumo updated. The trip was so long that when I tried uploading the whole trip into the Zumo, it ran out of memory somewhere in mid Nebraska. I found that updating the Zumo & down loading the camera's pix every night worked very well. The net book is a little Acer -- just a bit over $300 at Sam's Club. Can now find 'em on line for less. Good little 'puter for road work -- doesn't take up much space, another primary concern when touring on 2 wheels. Hopefully this summer, I'll be touring on 3 wheels.
