Default Does anyone w/GL1800/Roadsmith have this rack?

I wanted to place an order for one of these but I can't seem to get a response from the vendor. I asked the following question:

"I'd like to place an order for this rack right away but need to know the following information

What is the length from the center of the hitch locking pin to the rack edge. I have a Goldwing Roadsmith Trike with Nerf bumper and don't want to have any interference or trike body damage. Your prompt reply would be greatly appreciated. I need one for a planned trip. BTW: This is the third request for this information."

It looks like a good rack with good size & features but if it doesn't fit, it's useless. Thanks, Art

You should not have a issue mounting that.

Chances are you won't be able to fully open trunck with cooler or other bag on rack. That's the case with my Roadsmith when I have the Packit Rak attached. Still worth having though.

I have a RIVCO large rack that I used before I had the Roadsmith conversion done. When I got the trike home I purchased an auto hitch from Farm & Fleet that raises the rack 5 inches. This hitch peice was also a long one and I redrilled the pine hole in the shank to move the rack back. I have never since had a problem with rubbing the road and it is back far enough to allow access to the trunk. I use it alot. JerryD

Mine works great on my Victory CSC. You should have plenty of room for any fudge factor adjustments.

I have that exact setup! 2006 GL1800 with Roadsmith and nerf bumper and that exact rack. Took it on a 5,299 mile trip last year through 13 western states. Carried a fully loaded medium sized wheeled suitcase bungeed on.

No problems - worked like a charm.

    The rack won't tilt.

For extra tie-on points, drill a few holes around the perimeter of the lip and attach short eye-bolts facing out.

Thanks everyone for all your input and suggestions... it was greatly appreciated. I think Konrad's trike setup is what I was looking for and will place an order with them....

Same RS set up here, so did the hitch fit the RS receiver without a mod?

No mods, no problems. RS provides the industry-standard small tube receiver.

I did some modifications to it.. Got a receiver that has a 3" rise, Then when i got the thing i cut the 1 1/4" solid bar off to where it fit more in line where i wanted it to be, Then redrilled the pin hole... Then i mounted the rack to the hitch i used a large bolt & nut so that it was more like a 1 piece assy. Drilled 2 holes on the forward siede but on the ends of the rack where i mounted I bolts facing down where i attached a couple of small tun buckles & chains to keep rack from rattling.... Then added some leds to the back side...... Sets high enough to never worry about bumping the ground even on speed bumps but still low enough that the lisc plate can be seen by the local law enforcement.... FYI... I now have that whole setup on the market... Hitch, rack pins etc

I had that same set up on my stock 2010 Goldwing (two wheels) and now that my bike is in the shop getting "triked out" as we speak, I plan on putting that same set up on my R/Smith trike...........
I'm looking forward to a new adventure on three instead of two.........
