    Default Other Lehman Jackal riders?

I bought my Jackal late last year having done minimal research and having limited experience wrenching on its predecessors. After starting to ride in February and finding problems with the trike (oil leak, fork oil leak, R/R, stator, etc.), I threw myself at the mercy of the dealer at a very steep price. I would like to be able to share knowledge about the Jackal with other owners/riders, particulary about Jackal ideosynchrocies, mods, and farkles. The Trike Tall member list does not disclose member rides. Which other Trike Talk members ride a Lehman Jackal and would be willing to share experiences and information?

Hope to hear from you soon.

David, I have a 07 C90 Lehman also. I just turned the 30,000 mile mark and have had no problems with Lehman part of the trike. The C90 itself is known for a weak charging system and cheap head bearings. If you go to the Delphi Forum http://forums.delphiforums.com the members have a vast knowledge about these bikes. Be sure to check out the " Mod 3" which will improve the charging problems. I use 41psi in front tire and 20 to 24 psi in rears. I also have installed a Bully fuel controller, 2.5 gallon GTank and K&N high flow air filter. (from GMAN Industries good people) Changed the exhaust to Cobra 2 into 1 HP. Runs good and strong, nice rumble but will bark if you twist your wrist!! Hope this might help some. Let me know if you have more questions.

    Rick,
Thanks for the reply. When I took it in to the dealer, I was working full-time, so I had them do the r/R and stator replacement. They refused to do the Mod 3 because that was not spec.I started planning on the Mod 3, and finished that, added an auxiliary fuse panel and a Wolo Bad Boy and relay harness after going on severance in June. I had not yet read about the head bearing problem. I am a member of the other forum and will research it there. Thanks for the tip.

My biggest issue right now is that I had gotten used to shifting on the C50, so much easier and smoother than the C90. When I complained to the dealer about no friction zone, he said that is usually an indication that you need a clutch rebuild. A lot of money later, I now know that is a feature, not a bug. I think I will be used to it in another thousand miles or so. When I got it, the odometer was at 67334.

It is now up to 68700 or so.

This trike is an experiment for us.

My wife neither rides solo nor two-up with me. If we like riding together, we will keep both the C50 and the trike. Otherwise, I will probably be satisfied with the C50 and will flip the trike. For that reason, I amtrying to limit my investment tominor safety issues, such as headlight and taillight modulators. We will see how our finances stand if we really enjoy riding it together.

I am trying to build a replacement for the toolbox compartment we lost in the conversion. If it turns out useful, I will post pictures.

    Enjoy, and ride safe!

    Dave,
My wife rides a 2007 C-90 with the Lehman Jackal conversion. We bought it 2 1/2 years ago from an 80 year old gentleman. At time of purchase it had 4500 miles on it; presently it has 27000. Since we live in Las Vegas, we quickly learned that "air cooling" leaves a lot to be desired in the summer...that bacon smell is from your legs being burned! The stator fried itself at 26000 miles and I replaced both the stator and r/r module with Rick's Hotshot units. It will be interesting to see how long they last in comparison to OEM. On the Lehman end, the only problem we have is that the seal at the front of the differential is leaking.

I contacted Lehman about a service manual and was politely told that they are only distributed to dealers. I have contacted Lee H. Mann from this list to see if he can help in this regard.

I'm a little uncomfortable doing the disassembly, seal replacement and reassembly without a manual and torque values for the various attachment bolts.

I do all my own routine maintenance, use Mobil 1 15w50 and Suzuki oil filters. So far we're satisfied with the trike, and have gotten used to the Suzuki quirks. The important point for my wife, who has hip replacements, is the the seat is very low and and the trike is easy to mount and dismount from.

    Happy riding,

    Werner

I recently bought a brand new leftover 2008 Suzuki C-90 witha new 2008 Lehman Jackal conversion. Thedealer had a Memphis Shades fairing in stock, ordered the mount kit and 12”windshield, and the Tour Pak from Lehman. They had the fairing painted to match and got everything installed. We’ve only had it a couple weeks and only a few miles on the odometer.

I did notice yesterday after a 70 mile ride that the front seal on the differential was leaking. There are a few other minor problems that the dealer needs to address next week. When they finally located all the keys I tried to lock the forks. They will not lock no matter how much language I use. I never had this problem on my previous ride.

I used to ride a 04 Suzuki 1500LC; same bike with carbs and the bike seemed to ride very smooth.

This bike seems like the engine is missing at highway speeds.

Another mystery with the keys for this bike/conversion is the extra keys: there is a short key similar to a key for an RV storage bin. Nobody seems to know what this is for. It does not go to the Jackal trunk and theTour Pak is not lockable. The aftermarket fairing seems to shake a lot going down the road. I’ve ridden other bikes with factory fairings and never had one shake.

All in all I think this trike will be a keeper once they get the differential repaired. I can live with the other minor problems.
    Enjoy your trikes
    Tom
