Co-Operators,but you have to have at least one passenger vehicle with them to get that price. which I do. and 2 homes. and RV and ,Quad and Snowmobile.and wifes minivan .

It appears that Co Operators is in Canada only. I am int he US, but thanks. I will be shopping around outside of progressive....maybe foremost. Does anyone live in Michigan and what insurance do you use for your trike?

When looking through comments on insurance, I just went through the insurance game and found that ONLY comments from someone from your state have any relevance. Out of state comments mean nothing since rates vary widely from area to area. Second, the MOST EXPENSIVE part of insurance is the Uninsured/Underinsured medical part. This adds $279 a year to my policy BUT in Texas, we have a couple folks out there who don't have insurance and if something happens, my med insurance will work OK for the medical part but if I am disabled, can't work or have long term problems, then I get nothing from the person who caused the accident and my medical doesn't cover much of this so the Uninsured/Underinsured medical does. You have to decide if you want to roll the dice. Talking how much you pay for insurance is meaningless unless you are apples to apples in coverage... Comprehensive? Uninsured/Underinsured? How much do they value the trike part? Etc.

You would do best to call around and decide what insurance features are important.

State Farm offered me a great price on trike insurance in Alberta if I had all of my other insurance needs moved over to them. When I did the math, the entire package through SF was going to cost me more $$$$ than I would pay if I split it out among a few companies. You are so right - COMPARE APPLES - APPLES!

In Michigan there is a fee added for each vehicle, "Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association" @ $185 per year per vehicle. This fee more than doubled the rate for full coverage on the Ural with the sidecar. I insured the 86 Goldwing PLPD so I could plate it and test ride. Now it's Triked (almost done) I'll need to retitle it and change the insurance. Can't wait to jump thru those hoops. I'll have to dig out the policy to check the coverage and cost. I have to renew soon.
I'm with Progressive.

Yep I have learned about the association fee. I will be shopping around to see what they can come up with. Progressive is well know and hell I am paying what is equal to a nice car, so if the insurance equals what car insurance may be I guess that would make sense.

    Thanks

As wiredgeorge said: BUT in Texas, we have a couple folks out there who don't have insurance and if something happens, my med insurance will work OK for the medical part but if I am disabled, can't work or have long term problems, then I get nothing from the person who caused the accident and my medical doesn't cover much of this so the Uninsured/Underinsured medical does.
There's a surprising number of our fellow trike riders who do not get their trike conversion certified nor do they advise their insurer or state/provincial licensing authority of the changes made. Obviously they don't consider the potential for being involved an accident. Should such be the case, insurers are only too happy to dump you and leave you bare a-- to the wind! The advice I was given by my installer was to get an appraisal by a certified appraiser and to share that report with the insurance company. Should I unfortunately have a claim, there will not be any surprises for anyone involved. The same with accident medical coverage - with hospital stays running up to 100,000.00 or more, 300,000.00 medical coverage doesn't go far if there's multiple persons hospitalized. I think 1 million is minimum and 3 million coverage is comfortable. In our litigious society, this is no place to be cutting corners.

Many a good retirement plan came to a sad ending as the result of being underinsured! IMHO
I have insurance with them. Allstate doesn't insure Bikes in Massachusetts. They were pretty fair. They based coverage on the value of the bike if it didn't have a conversion, then you tell them what you think the value of the trike conversion is. I have a 1997 wing with a new Roadsmith conversion. It cost a little over $500.00 with collision and $1000.00 deductible. They seem pretty knowledgeable while talking with them on the phone.

Being in Texas, I have all my bikes covered with Progressive, the 2003 1800 - 289.00 Full coverage as we travel with it and pull our trailer, I have a number of other Harleys that run about 90.00 Liability Only... my cars, trucks, house and property is with Metlife. They quoted nearly identically to Progressive but I've been with my bike insurance buddy for years.... I hate insurance, knock on wood its been years since a claim - kinda like going to Vegas.. but as has been stated a number of times, we're not worried about us having an accident, we're worried about someone south of the border with a stolen car, a gun and no job!! But they can signup for Yomama Care..... just don't understand, the freebie people at work. But sure know where all our money goes, not back into this country. We'll be giving Russia money shortly and apologizing for being a bully. Just love this country.

had not thought about this after the conversion. I have a full coverage policy from progressive h.d. insurance . so I called. sure enough the conversion is classified as an accessory . on my standard policy it allowed up to 3000.00. had it upped to 15000. cost me an additional 112.00 per year.

Foremost. My independent agent got me the senior discount available through AARP. No claims experience.

I had used State Farm for everything, for many years. They wouldn't cover my DFT trike because I did it DIY. They would have had no problem with a paid install, even though there are no real qualifications for installers. I had pictures showing how easy it was, how preassembled the unit was, really just a nut and bolt job. My agent agreed it should be OK, submitted the pictures with his recommendation. And was turned down by the central office.

I mean, they'll cover a car if you did a brake job yourself, but not this? I know I did a more careful job than many installers would. Oh, well.

Oh, well.

couldnt insure either as a trike. so just insured as motorbike and didnt tell em, I am a licenced Motorcycle mechanic, and a weldor. but because a Motorcycle dealer didnt install the kits.no one will insure em. now I have a Lehman built Trike and still only a select few will insure it.

If it were me I'd talk to a lawyer about whether the insurance company could deny a claim.
In California I been quotes from $635. to $989. for full coverage 12K,100/300/100 a year for a 89 Gl1500/CSC trike. Also no tickets for 18 years. I would love $200. to $300. year insurance but not in California.

I had insurance on my wing when it was a two wheeler with Formost but they told me they would not insure the trike. So I went with Geico.
