Nolan Helmets

Looks like I'm in the market for replacing an old half helmet with something new. Based on several postings it seems a lot of riders have Nolan helmets and are pleased with them. Based on internet customer reviews, I'm narrowing the search down to a handfull. One of the more interesting models seems to be the new Nolan N44. Has anyone purchased one and if so, what do you think of them? If not, what other Nolan helmets work well for you?

OOOPS... forgot to mention that I'm also interested in installing something in the helmet to connect to GPS, radio, etc. Any and all comments about your experiences with this would be most appreciated. One feature about the Nolan N44 is that it's "ready for the Ncom system". Any experiences with this?

I use Nolan N90 modular. love it. It is set up to accept optional Bluetooth intercom system. Check the video of any helmit they have.

I really like my Nolan N43. It's like having several helmets in one. Bought mine from JM with the mic/speakers built in.

Wife and I both have N44 helmets, with the N-com installed in them. One has the earlier model N-com and one the brand new one with built in radio and ability to talk to other riders. We love them! Fantastic sound quality, Bluetooth intercom and telephone connection, or connect a cable from all your bike's audio and GPS. Expensive, but HIGHLY recommended!

I bought a Nolan flip up at Americade several years ago. The paint started chipping off on my way home. Got home and the paint was chipped in several places. Some chips were large. Had a good (local) dealer that said give me the helmet, the Nolan rep was due in any day. The rep took one look at the helmet and sent it in to Nolan for replacement. Nolan contacted the dealer that was at Americade about the sale. That dealer said the helmet was bought as a" clearance" item the last day of Americade. Nolan replied since I bought a "clearance(discounted) helmet" They would not warranty the helmet! Sent it back to me. Buyer beware when buying a Nolan product. They don't stand behind their product! I know they took my money once. They will never see any more from me! Tom

Being a dealer who stocked and sold lots of helmets over the years, I was either given or bought one of almost every decent to good helmet made. Nolan helmets have become my favorite because they fit me better than any other helmet I've owned and I like the style and functionality of them. I no longer sell helmets, but still own a couple of several years old N42 n-coms. If I were to replace them, which I don't plan on, I would go with the N44. Here's the video for the N44:

Yep they are expensive, but they are really good! I bought a new one recently (N43) as I gave my other one to my son, and I got the upgraded Ncom bluetooth with it - it's awesome! You can now not only speak wirelessly to you passenger, bluetooth in music or GPS instructions, take phone calls on the go, but you can also communicate on the road with any other type of Bluetooth that other riders in your group have, with no problems at all! You can even go online and plug it in to a USB port and program the built in auto station seeking FM radio, or upgrade the software! (i.e. if you have a PC - Mac version not released yet much to my chagrin!).
With awesome stereo sound, full face visor, removable chin guard section, pin lock on the visor and built in slide down sun guard screen I think it is worth the price!

Last week, a friend wrecked his bike avoiding a deer. His Nolan modular came off, and he suffered a concussion and terrible road rash. I was really surprised that the helmet came off, and decided it either did not fit him correctly, or he was not wearing it properly. Any comments, as I had been considering a full face or modular helmet?

My guess would be that he didn't have it buckled up tightly enough. No helmet should fall off if it the correct size and cinched up snugly.

I was thinking the same.
