To dyno or not to dyno ?
To dyno or not to dyno ?
Need a little more information for an educated response to the question - i.e. motor information/performance add-ons/etc. Is this a OEM stock bike? If it is and you are happy with the performance, fuel mileage, heat generation, etc., leave it alone and just ride!!
Without any further information from you, I doubt that anyone will be able to properly answer your question.
Sorry!
Roger

I agree with above because if you have not done any engine work or tuner add on's i do not see why you would want it done, unless for peace of mind and to make sure you are getting everything you can from the motor. with that being said i was satisfied with my ride for two years until MSOCKO talked to me about the benefits of a tuner and sprocket gear change, installed both and have never been more satisfied, totally different bike now. good luck in your decision.
Sorry, 2011 triglide power vision tuner, removed cat, stainless header, 3.5 jackpots, fuel moto air cleaner all down loads with fuel moto. Not unhappy with anything but just wonder what I am missing doing downloads. Do any 2 bikes run that much alike ? Thanks looking at $ 450.00 for dyno. Not comfortable doing my own tunes .
A dyno tune is only as good as the person who is running the dyno machine and what their experience is with the tuner your using. One thing you want to ask the operator at the shop is " How many runs do you average for a tune?"
If the answer is a number less than the fingers on your hand you will not get close a decent tune. A really good tuner will have upwards of 30+ runs on your machine

Red Ultra Powered By Head-Quarters 120, Easy Clutch Pull By ClutchWIZ. 2012 GL1800 Hannigan. I've yet to ride a stock Harley which wasn't in need of a mechanical intervention.
I am getting anywhere from 6 hours to 1.5 hours. I am stopping at Tilley Harley Davidson in Statesville NC on the way to Myrtle Beach in May. No one around here can do trikes.
Just fyi. During Bike week at Myrtle Beach, KMC Powersports will be at Coastal Victory/Indian in Murrels Inlet. Kyle CAN do trikes on his dyno and is a top notch tuner. Appts. can be made on LloydzMotorworkz website. His cost is somewhere around $350. or so. Good luck.
Ride safe.
Thanks Blueline , just talked Kyle and he wont do it because of power vision.
That is weird, a very good friend of mine with a built 120" V-Twin in a Streetglide, with the Power Vision w/the Auto tune module had his biked Dynoed by one of the best tuners her in the Northwest and he stated that it was much easier to tune with the PV than a SEPST. His bike Dynoed at 128 tq and 143 hp.
Although he did run some Auto Tune Sessions w/the PV, he wanted to see the numbers and see if the tuner could better his tune!
I would guess your tuner prospect had no previous experience with the PV and was not willing to even give it a try. My experience with the PV on both of my Bikes has been awesome, and I have experience with several tuners - i.e. Power Commander, Fuel Pack, and the H-D SEPST. The PV has been, and still is, my favorite tuning device.

Don't bother. If its not Harleys Super tuner or SEST they wont put any effort into the tune with another tuner. I found out several years ago they stated they could do TTS, I got 6 runs and got charged $300 for a lousy tune with only some AFR adjustments.
Best shop for a good trike dyno is Roeders in Ohio

Thanks Gorilla , I needed that !!!
Sorry to beat a dead horse. But those of who had a dyno and also have a tuner with preloaded maps from fuel moto or some one else, what did you actually gain.
I have the Dynojet Power Vision (on two of my bikes) and the map that I received from Fuel Moto I did not like, but was a good basis to start from. I have since run several Auto Tune sessions and done some A/F ration changes to the fuel map and have them running awesome.
On the Trike, I have gained some additional cooling and performance at the expense of a couple mpg mileage. However, I am running a 120" high compression motor and still get about 34 or 35 mpg solo, and about 31 to 33 two up.
Very satisfied with this tuner, and I have had experience with several of the tuners currently in the market.
