Only the 2009 CVO's came with a cat converter, other than CA. 2010 was the first year for extensive use of one.

you are right, my 10' had it and "true duals" eliminated that problem.

That is the stock seat. Running a HD riders backrest. The Tour Pak has been relocated back 3". Mary modified her backrest on the Tour Pak.

I'm running OEM plugs. Many years ago I spent a lot of time testing a slew of different aftermarket plugs, even the HD Screamin' Eagle plugs. Some of them did not work as well as the OEM, others I could not tell any benefit from.

Plug wires are a different story. We did a study a few years back. Tested over 50 new OEM plug wire sets, and over 100 Screamin' Eagle Plug wire sets. There was a high % of them (somewhere around 50%) that were NOT within spec, new, out of the box.

Not only do the engines run better with a stronger spark, with the ION sensing for knock retard being sent over the plug wires, it is really important for them to be in spec to get best power and mpg.

Most bikes that we put These Wires on, there is enough of a performance increase that you can feel it in everyday riding....it's not a lot, but it is definitely there...a bit crisper throttle response.

Thanks for sharing all of your stories with us.

    Hi Mark,

I have never used any kind of electronic rider to rider, or rider to passenger, comms, so I'm completely ignorant on those matters.

Glad you've enjoyed the Ride Reports. As of now we have no trips planned for this year, but I am hoping that later in the year we will be able to take one.

I use a Drift Ghost-S video camera, with a Ram Mount off the handlebars.

Also there is an external mic, routed back to below the Tour-Pak.

Nice ride. Lots of good ideas

I have 2017 triglide I like what you did with the extra space filler for the back rest and seat after moving the tourpak back

I also had to move mine back and can not figure a good solution for it any way of getting one made up of course i would pay the green for it

    Thank you!

Mary made ours before anyone was making them commercially.

Now you can get them... Here's a link to what we would use now, if we needed one.

    Kevin,

Did u monitor the oil temp with the dipstick HD oil temp gauge or did u use something else? I remember u saying at the beginning of this thread your temp gauge died.

    Hi Tony,

Yes, with the dipstick temp gauge. The first one I had did die, it was under warranty and replaced.

It has since died again, and not longer under warranty. While these are better than they used to be, I have never had one last more than a few years.

    Thanks Kevin for the reply.

Is there somewhere to mount the HD oil temp gauge kit in the dashboard like the '09-'13 by replacing the 'air' temp with the oil temp on a '14+?

Maybe this will work on the '14's and newer? https://www.jescustomaccents.com/200...-Temp-15OD.htm

I've seen folks use the Jes dipstick ones...nice thing is they're mechanical, and much, MUCH less likely to fail.

Regarding putting a gauge in the dash- I've not seen anyone do that on the 14+ models. I have seen folks put a gauge in the snap in cover on the lowers. (the one that pops off and the radiator overflow is behind it)

I've thought about doing that myself, but I've done so much testing (and recording temps) with the PV and various cooling components, that now watching my ET on the PV, and knowing my riding conditions, I have a pretty good idea of where my oil temp is without having to look.

A good rule of thumb is that once you are completely warmed up/heat soaked (45-60 minutes), your oil will be within 10* +- of the ET displayed on the PV, if you have all the cooling components in place, seen at this LINK. This is on the Twin-Cooled bikes, and the only exception to that is if you are in hot weather (90*+) AND in pro-tracted stop n-go traffic. Then the oil can creep up to as much as 25* more than the displayed ET.

yes I agree once the testing is complete and the required parts have been installed to control the heat, the oil temp gauge is really no longer useful.

What useful information does the FP3 show? Engine temp or oil temp? I will purchase the FP3 bc I have V&H pipes left from my RK I sold in the spring.

Yes, the FP3 can provide the CHT or what is seen as the ET on the Power Vision, it also provides an array of other information. You can see more on it HERE.

However, just because you have V&H pipes does not mean you need to get an FP3. The Power Vision works very well (and is more powerful than the FP3) with V&H exhaust. I have the PV on my TG and I'm running V&H exhaust.

See more on the Power Vision HERE.

Neither one of them display, or know, the oil temperature.
