Damp trunk

Two week old 2013 Goldwing Lehman II LLS. Had a damp trunk since day 1. Using large bags of desiccant for the last 3 days still puts moisture on a helmet if left in trunk for 30 minutes. Has anyone had to make an adjustment on your trike? Looking for any advise.

There are adjustments that can be made. First see if the trunk seal is making contact. Use a strip of paper by placing one end of it between the door gasket and the body. Close the door completely and drag the paper out. The door has 2 latching positions, partial and complete.

Try this on both sides and compare the drag or resistance.

If the paper easily pulls out of either or both side when completely closed, the door needs adjustment.

ADJUSTMENT: The door latches are enclosed by a cover with 6 screws. Remove the screws and drop the cover.

There are 4 screws (allen type) that hold the assembly to the roof of the trunk. After determining the side needing adjustment, lightly loosen the 2 screws on that side and 1 screw on the other side.

Watch closely and tap the assembly on the adjusting side inward. Move it in 1/16" increments and tighten 1 of the 2 screws on that side.

Test the trunk door with the paper again.

NOTE: Sometimes water becomes trapped in the upper door seal and when opening it drops onto the floor of the trunk. This moisture could be the cause of dampness if the trunk seal appears tight.

A Lehman Dealer should be able to determine this in a couple minutes.

I think the door could have been designed differently it does collect water at top edge.

Did the paper test, loose both sides. I don't have a cover in the trunk to protect the linkage and wires. Adjusted the latch assembly it's tight now, I've been out of town will check the trunk tomorrow and hope its dry.

My Champion has the same problem. Solved the problem by buying an enclosed trailer to park it in.

That didn't actually solve the problem...it's just a band-aid. What do you do if it rains while you're traveling?

Don't travel. Weekend warrior. Latch is tight and one must push very hard to close it. If I do start to travel I'll looking it further.
