Lehman sells a fairing on their website for the Suzuki Boulevard C50, but states that a steering stabilizer is required. Can anyone tell me if it's "really" required, or if this is a Lehman requirement? And why?

Although I have never experienced it, Lehman claims that because the Tramp is so light that passing traffic and wind influences the Fairing and thus the handlebars. A steering stabilizer (damper) reduces this effect. I have a damper kit and might even have a fairing too. There are aftermarket fairing shells out there for less than $300.00. though.

Hi Lee, thanks! Not sure if I'm actually getting a fairing, but I wanted to be prepared for any "additional expenses" it might create, just in case.

My 07 C90 Jackal came with a steering damper. It also had a windshield and I added lowers deflectors. I played with that damper for a couple of riding seasons and didn't see any noticeable impact on the front end, especially the front end wobble when slowing down, no matter how I adjusted it. I decided to get the triple tree raked. I had the rake done by Steeright (they modify the stock triple tree) and added 1/12 inch fork tube extensions when I put the front end back on. That did the trick. I removed the original steering damper assembly.
I'm not sure how that would play with a fairing though.
