Reason for trike

Why do people wait for a medical issue to think about a Trike? Why do people refuse to think about a Trike if there is a medical issue? (" have to stop riding. Can't hold the bike up anymore") I think of my Trike as a Go-cart on steroids.

I think trikes are quickly evolving into a motorcycle for the non-medical crowd. So many trikes are now on the road that riders are seeing the benefits, particularly those of us who live is hilly, curvy, not-always-paved, areas.

I have tried to explain to many people that my trike only gives up leaning in the curves. Everything else tied to a motorcycle is there for me to enjoy. At the same time, I now find I ride more relaxed. I'm not having to worry at every non-level stop about which foot to put down; whether or not the parking lot is paved, dirt, or gravel; whether I'm balanced and steady enough for my co-rider to mount the trike; and the list goes on.

When I ride my two wheeler, the old brain has to step it up a notch because it has more things to think about and calculate; CONSTANTLY calculating.

Bottom line is more people are beginning to appreciate the non-medical reasons to own a trike.

Not me, About 7 years ago I got a Trike' the main reason was I got tired of putting my bike away for a few months in the winter and not able to ride, Now I can ride every day...
But it was a hard decision, I never considered a Trike a Motorcycle,. ...

I didn't have any medical issues that would keep me off a two wheeler, but if we didn't get a trike it's likely the Mrs would see that I did.

No medical issues here, did it because the wife can't sit still on long trips. It became exciting when she would decide to flex a leg at 70 mph while leaned over through a corner on a 2 wheeler. I think a there are more riders taking to a trike because they have never ridden 2 wheels and don't want to learn.

My wife has MS and was getting uncomfortable on 2 wheels. To keep her in the wind went to a trike. Did not want to I loved 2 wheels.

After riding for almost a year and about 9,000 miles can't believe how much fun it has been. We ride more she is smiling more. Now I wish had moved to 3 wheels earlier. Our chapter only had 2 trikes last year this year there are 6. Think the word is getting out that they have more advantages and you do not have to compromise anything by going to a trike. Every ride we go on some one asks us how do you like riding a trike.

I just like the idea/look of a trike - still have a 2-wheeler so I'm very fortunate to be able to choose my RIDE FOR THE DAY......now as 'old man time' creeps up I find myself riding "3" more
and more........and LOVE IT!

I've liked trikes since the late 60's, but I could never see paying what a trike costs and I already knew I loved 2 wheels. I thought I would like 3, but wasn't real sure. Medical issues got to the point that it was either 3 or nothing so I converted. That's my reason for waiting. It was the cost of a trike that stopped me combined with the uncertainty of whether I'd like 3 as much as 2 wheels. Now that I have a trike, I know for sure that I like it just as much.

MY reasons are the same as everyone that has put their reasons in this Forum. the only regret I have is that I wish I would have gone with a IRS suspension. The Michigan roads aren't the best in my area to ride on. The straight axle on my Triglide really can accent the unevenness from some of the roads I have to go down to get where I want to go. But, when she is on smooth roads, she is a dream!

Spent a week in July in central Mass. and found out the roads are not SA Trike friendly. Headed back to NH Lakes Region next summer where we remember the roads to be much better although we were not thinking Motorcycle at the time.

No MED issues here thank goodness. The first one I saw in person was in Pine Mountain,Ga. wanted one then and finally got one. Anyway I finally got one and they are great. Ride Safe.

Over 2 years ago as a healthy 67 year old I started investigating Trikes. I didn't tell my friends, girl friend, or kids. I did mention it to my Tech buddy who frowned on the idea but wouldn't tell me why. Finally, after several conversations with him I asked him point blank why he was trying to talk me out of the idea. He thought for a minute and said, "it's because what you will be admitting". That made no sense to me so I pressed him even further. He said he knew I was quite capable to handling two wheels without any problem, but he said by getting a Trike I would " be admitting that I'm getting old". I laughed and said I WAS getting old, and in my mind the time to switch was BEFORE I had an issue not AFTER. ( Remember, this fella is only 50 yrs old). He said he would never get one if he ever got to the place he couldn't ride a 2 wheeler.

I had a 04 Wing and a 07 Harley Ultra at the time of the conversion. Since then I sold the Harley cause I seldom rode it once the Wing was triked, and since then upgraded my 3 wheeler to a 12 Wing with a new Hannigan kit on the back.

Best move I ever made. The comfort level on 3 wheels is great and they are so much safer. It doesn't mean some fool won't hit you, but with a Trike there are so many issues that you don't have to worry about. I've talked with a lot of Trikers in the past couple of years and none of them said they regretted the move to 3 wheels. We have all agreed that we wised we had done it sooner.

No medical issues, just did not like the heavy bike in city traffic.
Bought a lighter bike, Yamaha xs650 special for short trips, trikes for riding out of town.

It was just time, after 40+ years of riding too hard and too fast it seemed like a great idea. I promised the wife I wouldn't go back to two wheels and she is holding me to it. Its been two years now and I like it pretty well. It is more comfortable, relaxing and I would say a lot safer.

I switched from 2 wheels to a trike for Safety. To be seen better, to relieve the stress while riding, to be able to carry more stuff if needed, to have more room, to relax at stop lights, to use the GPS, XM radio, CB, to feel comfortable, to look cool, and most of all.... Bragging Rights.

I did a low speed drop with the wife and after that she demanded I trike! I do have medical issues but can still do 2 wheels but yes I'm glad I triked! I do miss 2 wheels on the twisties, there is no comparison with 3 wheels...

No medial issues here as well. My wife of 35 years and I always went on trips together on two wheels. The past few years I think she was getting a bit too nervous on two wheels, so I got the trike so we could ride together. She really likes it and we've put about 9,000 miles in a little over one year. I was going to keep my VTX 1800 for solo rides, but found myself riding more on the trike. It didn't make sense to keep an awesome bike in the garage and pay insurance, upkeep and depreciation. So I sold it this spring...and never looked back...well....hardly ever looked back. It was a great decision and I am thankful that either getting older or an accident didn't make the decision for me.

Try twisting the throttle 1/2 way thru the turn.
