Chance favors the well prepared.
Chance favors the well prepared.
yup....don't mind takin a chance when the odds are in my favor! good idea with that oil test tank......don't want a blue cam or crank, and don't like the squeal of an engine locking up.
will there be any over the cylinder ducting?.....seen you had some made for underneath. lotsa trike in a small package. looking good!
No probably not.
It has run a long time with no tins on it.
I will just have to see how this larger motor handles it.
Death by SS do you Safety Wire some of the fasteners & bits & pieces when you button it all up & back together ?
So....
Some small amounts done.
The two halves of the tank are welded out.
The sealer is ordered. I am going to put the sealer on everything other than the last seam. Then weld the two halves together and roll put sealer in and roll that last seam.
I got the engine oil. Now to do the prime up.
I am going to have to recruit some welding help with the headers.
Working down a list of small details.
Tank looks good ... getting close to the test flight ...
I primed up the oil system today.
It all seemed to work as it should.
I have lots of oil pressure. Probably too much.
But then I do plan on thin synthetic oil after break in.
On another note.....
That oil pressure can is hard to control.
I sprayed about a quart if oil all over the place including in my face right off the bat.
Learned real quick that a little air goes a long way and to sneak up on it.
Got a few more of the small details done.
Dial indicated tdc and set the timing pointer and the sync of the ford crank trigger ring.
Adjusted the valves and sealed up the valve covers.
Installed the iridium spark plugs and the ford spark plug wires.
Check a bolt here and there....
The main thing missing is welding out the headers.
getting close to firing up! any fuel and ignition maps available for your setup? or megasquirt tuner studio plans? you have bungs for wideband sensors....going to use?
No two maps are the same on custom engines.
Everything about the engine would have to be exactly the same like a production car.
So you do the calculations and put the numbers in.
Hopefully it will start.
Then tune from there.
As it stands it will be dual narrow bands.
Maybe one day it will be wideband.
But that will probably be if/When I do a cpu upgrade.
