New member - First Post - asking for advice

I recently bought my first trike, a 2010 HD Tri Glide with 13k miles. Here in Boston, the day before Spring, we still have 1 1/2 to 2 feet of snow on the ground and the temp was a balmy 7 degrees this morning so I am not riding just yet. Due to a serious ankle injury I can no longer ride on two. I am concerned about a few issues but first among them is the widely discussed problem of excessive right side engine heat. Is there anything I should do before or upon taking delivery or do I wait see if it is a problem with my bike? I have read a few posts here that for some Tri Glides this has not been a problem.

Don't jump the gun, ride it and Wait and see, As far as heat some people have heat problems and some don't.. You won't know in till the summer anyway..

Both the Wife/I have 2010's and never have had any real issues, hot yes, but not excessive, except one time leaving Las Vegas in 104 deg. temp.
Wife has 27 thou. (she still working) and I have 56 thou. (fully retired, yea!)
We love our trikes - will be heading to Sturgis this summer

Yep wait and see how it feels. What some think is hot others think it is just warm. Also it may all ready have had things done to it. Stage 1 air pipes and a tune.

Never good to worry about something that hasn't happened yet ... it's good you are being proactive and learning now ... but I'd stick with the wait and see approach ... just my $0.02 FWIW

Welcome from Mooresville, NC. I've read and heard a lot about the heat but after putting 15,000 miles on 'Blue III' she does not get any hotter than my 07 Ultra before her. I usually ride in temps anywhere from 9 degrees (yes it get that cold down here a few times a year) up to 104 degrees. In the winter the vents are kept closed and the spring to fall they are kept open. Never bothered me too much unless sitting still for a long period of time. Hope this helps some....

I would certainly wait and form my own opinion. As for my Bride and I, we don't fine the heat an issue.

My husband & 2 friends also have 2010s, they switched to synthetic oil which helped make a difference. I should point out their issue with heat came when riding in 108* temperature at a slow speed in town, so it was no surprise. I have a 2014, I was riding also, but mine didn't get hot . I agree with the people that suggest you ride yours in summer heat before you make any change, you may not have a problem. It took my husband about 500 miles to adjust to riding from his Ultra, but once he did he is a Happy Camper. Also, they all changed the stock back tires to Coker Radials & improved their ride quite a bit, mine has been great out the gate.
