Anyone Here Fly????

I was wondering if anyone else here was a flyer? I used to have an old 172 Skyhawk that was a lot of fun. I really wouldn't mind owning an ultralight to fly low and slow one day.

I am licensed but not anywhere near current. To expensive and after 38 years of being a controller I find it can be scary out there. To many stories some with not very happy endings.

Reenie and I both learned how to fly and got our tickets many moons ago, but after leaving Aviation when I retired from Grumman, we just never got back into it. Time, money and interest all faded.

My husband, George, is a pilot with commercial/instrument twin. We have 3 planes. A piper Seneca PA-34 twin, a 1946 Swift, and a CN4 Heath 1930 something that is sitting in the back of the hanger to be put back together again. He also flies WWII aircraft and is rated in the B-29, B-24, B-17 among many others. He flew for the Confederate Air Force Museum And also does a little flying for the Fighter Factory WWII aircraft based out of our little airport. Some of you may have seen the TV show that comes on one of the channels like History or Military when they interview one of the pilots at the Museum in Va. Beach. He is also rated in the Citation Jet. He says that flying is the one thing that makes him feel young, along with his Motorcycle. By far, flying is his first passion.

i'm a private pilot, I made it about 1/2 way through my instrument training before my favorite CFII moved south. I don't fly as much as I used to, mostly in the winter when I can't ride. I need some less expensive hobbies!

Now here is a man after my own heart!! I flew Gnat trainer British post WW II) jets for the Indian Air Force & then was cleared for MIG-17s but never got to fly any missions against the Pakistanis who were flying F-104s (compliments of the USAF). Our kill ratio then was 1:3. Guess you can give a man a plane, but doesn't make him a pilot!! Came Stateside in 1977 & tried to get a Private Pilot. Soloed & just about completed the cross-country portion when family ill-health & Dr's bills took preference. Loved flying the 174 as if it were a F-16. Havent taken the controls since 1989. I salute yr husband & all the other pilots amongst our group!

Don't fly, but I think an ultra light would be great. Thought about hang gliding, but having an engine just makes me feel a little better. Oh Ya, and the misses says NO to both!!!!!!!

I had my private pilot license in 1976. Cherokee 140 and instructor was only $30.00 per hour. I still have my Commercial Instrument single engine Rotary ticket. Not current since about 1991. Way to many rules to keep up with.

My brain has slowed down tooooo much to get back into it.

Back in the days when I was young and dumb I used to play around in a Quicksilver Ultralight ... And when I was feeling really frisky I would jump off a cliff near Lake Elsinore in California and do a controlled crash with a hang glider ... :eek:

Never flew a plane.. Did repel out of Huey's...Back when i was a kid my Uncle would tell me that he flew with Lindberg on his first trip across the Atlantic. He was a navigator and had to hide that fact... Sought-a Fred Noonan deal...

Closest I came was the Navy P-3 on long ass patrol missions. PPC wanted everyone to sit the seat and at least be able to use the auto pilot. Allowed the pilots a bit of a break.

There is no way you can float hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds of metal on invisible air.

I've had a license since '78. Owned a 1963 Piper Colt PA-22. Loved that plane. Wish I would have kept it. :o(

Finally someone who agrees with me!. Its about time!... As a mater of fact' you don't even exist , This forum does not exist.... Nothing exist's. Im just dreaming all of this...And when i 'If wake up' All of this will cease to exist' Till i go back to sleep again' Or theres a distinct possibility that I'm at this very moment still asleep and still dreaming all of this' Or not.

I have a friend who flies powered para-gliders. He just purchased another one earlier this year and would like to return home to New Mexico to his property.

I never flew BUT I used to parrichute.....
I have 12 jumps under my belt, wanted to jump more but that #13 kinda scared me........ So I decided I made it this far, safe "n' sound and stopped jumping!
