    Default How to adjust Shocks

I have put on 8000 miles since converting my RSV to a trike and the ride is still a little stiff for the bride. I owners manual says there are 5 settings yet I dont see any markings. I dont want to go twisting then find out I should be counting turns. Do they have a positve stop for each setting like a regular motorcycle shock or is there a mark hiding frome me?
You don't quit riding because you get old.

    Mike,
Thanks much for contacting us and asking your question here in our Sponsor Section.

You have the new version of our Shocks which are made to our Spec & Design by Progressive.
These new Version Shocks are no longer like the older style which emulated the traditional outboard Coil-over design and it's set pre-tension Rests. We changed the design in order to make it easier to adjust, eliminate the need for a Spanner Wrench, and to create an infinite number of possible Settings which better addresses Individual needs and desires.

To adjust, remove the Load from the Shock by using a Jack and Jack-Stands. Obviously, for this you will need to place the Jack or Stands at another Point other than the Lower Shock Mounts. Once the Rear is jacked up and the Load removed, turn the black Adjusting Caps in the rotational direction which coincides with your desired Adjustment (more or less pre-tension).
Look on the Shock Body Tube and you will see concentric Lines etched into the circumference of the Shock Tube which act as your "Guides" to measure or mark the location and the level of Pre-tension. Simply count those Lines to determine where you are at on the first Shock and use the same Line/Mark on the other Shock to insure they are adjusted evenly and same.

Hope this helps and answers your question to your satisfaction. Should you need anything else or further clarification, please let us know here or by phone if you like.
Thanks much again for contacting us and addressing your needs here so we may answer the question not only in this case but for all to see and reference should they find themselves in the same situation and need.

All the best to you and yours

I'll get a measurement next time I pull the wheels but I hope I dont have a need to do that untill the next schedualed service. About 2 months if life will quit throwing me all these little surprises.
