Does anyone have any experience with the HD Retractable Trunk Door Tether?

Are these strong enough that if the trunk door does come open that they would hold it upright?
Thank!
I have them on my trike and no they would not. Very little resistance after they have been on awhile.

I totally agree. Had a lot of problems at first and found that the pin was adjusted short, making the trunk lid close too tight. This never let the latch drop far enough into the groove. I readjusted the pin, keep it lubed and never had a problem since. I also use Saddlemen trunk bags to store most of my gear in the trunk and use a lid organizer, so I don't have anything that's going to fly out on its own. For good measure you could also put a small bungee on the lid to keep the door from opening to far.
I use the bungee method as a "safety" just in case mine pops open. Almost 50k and, knock on my melon, no issues. I never slam mine shut. Just a good firm nudge.

Check with SeeThroughBraz and talk to Al... I have a beta version of their warning systems and it works great. I mounted their red LED warning light on the lower inner fairing. Glows very brightly when the trunk is open..

Like others have said, lube lock occasionally, keep door locked and don't slam the door. Wife and I put over 5000 miles on 2014 triglide last year and door never came open. Last summer I rigged up a led light inside of top and bottom trunk. There is a magnetic switch that turns light on when trunk is open. Been thinking lately about running a led light up to fairing somewhere to alert if door comes open. Just tap into existing wiring, simple.
This is basically how the configuration works that I received from SeeThroughBraz but it doesn't have a switch for the tour-pac. You could probably wire in the tour-pac to their harness if you felt you needed it. Comes with a very bright 6mm LED bulb that, like I indicated, I put in my lower inner fairing. Had thoughts of putting it up in the inner fairing but decided on the lower.

I've seen a thread or two where some of us have removed the reflectors from the front lowers and rear fenders. I've been thinking about doing the same, but replacing the rear ones with LEDs. Hadn't to this point found any LEDs that were suitable.
Thanks, Bob! These may be what I've been looking for.
Early on, I had some issues with my trunk door opening but I learned how to close it properly and no problem since. The key, as others have said, it to just push until it clicks, not slam it. I also use a small bungee to restrict the door restraints so if it does open, it wont go all the way.....
