    Default Valkyrie pegs?

Having a Valkyrie-based Trike, I cannot be sure what is stock Valkyrie and what has been changed. So. I am finding the foot pegs way too short, and also the brake pedal. In my bike days, I had foot pegs that were maybe 150-175mm (6-7") long and a brake pedal that sat under the foot, with my foot pointing forward. The pegs on my trike a re very short (100mm?...4") and I find myself sitting with my feet sticking out from the trike body...it's either that or keep my foot poised over the brake pedal and be touching the exhaust cover. In the more relaxed position..feet hanging out, to brake, I will have to my foot and land on the brake pedal. OK. In a car I haver to lift from the accelerator and onto the brake pedal. But the brake pedal here is tiny and my (not very large) foot fouls the lower engine.

Is there a picture of stock Valk (or is it cool to say Kyrie? ) pegs and pedals? Or should I post a pic of my pedals etc and somebody can tell me if they are stock? I ask because if they are not stock and stock are longer, then it's an easy choice to look for stock stuff.

    Any help appreciated

    Nick

If you can post a pic of your pegs/brake pedal I should be able to tell you if they are stock. The stock peg folds up against a spring. The brake pedal is directly in front of the peg & should be slightly lower but it is adjustable so could be level with or slightly above the peg. www.valkyrieforum.com is THE place to go for all the tech info you will ever need on your Valk. Maybe this will help.

PS: They never were very comfortable for me, with the shifter being worse.
I had changed everything at some point.
Made a lowering bracket and tried other shifters. The Valk isn't a very adjustable bike. If it doesn't fit you. It can be troublesome.
Unfortunately the GL1800 is the same. For Hondas top of the line bike. Very little in the way of adjustability.

Thanks guys for all your help! All this is very new and I forgot I had a ....parts manual (blush) so yeah they are the stock pegs. Definitely going to see what I can do.

By not adjustable, you mean you can't rotate the shifter and brake pedals on a spline? Loooks like not from the manual (mmm..shifter maybe)

The brake pedal your pretty much stuck with.
The shifter can be changed for other Honda models. But none give you any room to speak of under the pipes.
You can move them a notch or so on the spine. I found the OEM was the best of a bad thing. I did however make a bracket to lower the foot pegs and used floor boards.
They hung a few inches above the ground not much clearance and would drag when taking a nice lean in a turn.

For info on what and where on the Valkyrie.
This is the best and most active forum. Take a look.

Thanks JaysGone. I guess the one thing about a trike is if I am taking a lean in a turn, scraping floor boards would be the least of my worries! I have thought about some sort of boards instead of pegs.

If the brake pedal is a stayer, then I may modify the existing one, and maybe even the shift pedal. If you can't get clearance under the engine/pipes, the I would lookj at moving outward: longer pegs, longer levers afgain modded by me. I know the existing stuff is cast, but I am OK with welding to cast steel.

My trouble will be taking the effort to make it look pretty. Farm machinery has been my stamping ground. There it did not matter much!

And thanks for the pointer to the Valk forum

If your in no hurry. I should be able to find the lowering plates I made for the front using Kury floorboards. They will also lower the brake pedal. I meant your stuck with the pedal itself. Not its position. The shifter I guess you could move outboard a bit if welding one up.
I found the Valk unridable for me with the OEM pegs.
On a Trike it shouldn't matter if they are 2-3 inches lower.
Ill send them to you. N/C if you don't feel like fabing something of your own design.

They are basically a 1/4 inch thick steel plate 4x6 ish?? Its been 3+ years memory isn't there with this to well size wise.

Wow! Thanks for that kind offer. Only trouble is freight. You are in Florida and I am in Western Australia. I did an online check and I reckon it will cost me Aud$60+ using USPS, the cheapest option. Do you have any photos of the plates on the bike, so I get some idea of exactly what they result in?

And as far as being in a hurry is concerned, anything I make just now will have to not be in a rush! We have moved house to a place with two really nice sheds...that jhave no power and I am waiting for it to be connected to them.

I guess it's the scraping that convinced Honda to put such stubby little controls onto the sides of what has to be one of the widest motors on a bike, as a flat 6. On a trike there is a lot more leeway.

Whooooa I didn't know you were Down Under. It never occurred to me to look.
    So that offer is rescinded..................
I will however take a picture or 2 and give you the measurements.
Only thing you will have to buy is a piece of flat steel. 4 or 6 inches by about 18 inches. Then cut and drill it to make the lowering plates. The whole job took less then an hour.

I just received a $5 piece of neoprene foam for my air filter from Best Bitz Australia. Through Ebay, I think its like 2.5$ AU to the American buck. It cost me AU $39.10 to get here. I ordered it on the 23rd got here on the 4th. Air Mailed. Afterwards I found a place in California that had filter elements for Webber carbs for $5

OK, thanks for the offer of photos.

We're not _quite_ at $2.50 to the USD ....yet but it is at about 1.5, which is a real pain as we were at parity. I hate it when that stuff happens, when you find out _just_ after.

I haven't t even tried using my riding boots to brake and change gear yet, but I ama little concerned about what it's going to be like, based on my sandshoes experience.

I looked where I thought the plates might have been and they aren't there.
Basically measure from the mounting holes of the foot pegs to the brake pedal mount.
Then add about 3 inches to the length.
To drop the pegs 2 inches is close to the ground leaning. As a trike should be more then enough.
Drill holes to use the OEM bolt holes. Then make a 2nd set of holes as low as you wish to go.
Passenger side the pegs and pedal will all drop as if it were one piece.
    Repeat on the drivers side.
I used about 3/16s to a 1/4 inch steel 8 or 9 inches x 6 inches max on the right side.
    Smaller on the left.
You can move the OEM shifter a notch or 2 and should be able to get a boot toe under the pipe. It will still be close though.
I did this using Kury floor boards on mine.
I sold the OEM pegs with the bike in the stock position.
So they have to be someplace in my garage. I have 2 large boxes of parts yet to go through.
If I can find them and I will.
Im sure we can work something out in the future.
Im not giving up. I just have to find this stuff.
It has been over 3 years. Its here someplace. I know cause I tried to use the Kury boards on the 1800 and they didn't fit. So know I do have them.
Heres a pic of both sides to show how low they were.
Sorry the 1st pics so crappy. But you can see them.

    Found them....
Heres a pic with some measurements.
Its in inches my metrics stink.

Cut outs for the brake pedal stuff.
At some point I can send them along with the floor boards (when I find them)if you like.
Id only expect you to pay for the shipping. The boards might not have a spring for the mounts. I don't remember as I had to modify them a touch to try to use them on the 1800. To me these are all useless parts. For a bike long gone.

No worries about the imperials mate. Metrics are easier to calculate, but for me, easier to stuff up when measuring...and " about 2 foot" is far easier than saying " about 600mm". Or "how tall was he"....."ohhhh about 6'" is a HEAP easier than "mmmm...about 180cm...maybe 182cm".

I have a niece who is 30 or so (30 or so in metric terms ) who still talks metric when she has to, but actually measures in ' " imperial. She NEVER had imperial measure education, only metric, but still uses it.

If you find the stuff, I will take it and yeah pay the post. The parts can live on.

This what happens when your vehicle rich and money poor.
    Keeping junk takes up space.
I bought my present house for one reason only.
The garage. Its bigger then my living space.
