We had a bit of rain lately and I was caught out in it. I did not think too much of it. Until the next day when I went to back out of my garage. The bike refused to allow me to go in reverse.
I took the Ol' girl to my local dealer and learned it would set me back 1200...... No thank you I told him. I would really like to go in reverse without having to push this bad boy every time.
I am sure one of you may have ran into this issue or maybe it is even mentioned on here somewhere else. I would like to find a much better option then $1200.
My search will continue............
Thank you in advance for any feedback on this topic.
What year Tri-Glide is yours? If it is new enough seems that would be a warrantee issue. As far as I know HD's don't come with a "Caution: not for use in wet conditions." sticker. Did they break the work down for you? Exactly what will they do for your $1200?

In my searching I did run into this website which seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the reverse motor. I am thinking of giving these guys a try. They have a phone number so I will call them first to get a few extra details.

Really.. don't get your trike wet? The motors are particularly prone to failure if the bike has been exposed to any moisture conditions (during storage or being accidentally ridden in the rain) wow talk about fail. And even at 259.00 to rebuild it whats been done for it to not happen again? nothing. Not a pretty picture is it.
There's nothin magic about Harley's reverse motors. Any electric motor shop can rebuild it for way! less than HD wants.

Depending on how old a TG it is, make sure breaker isn't half or fully tripped. May have to reset anyways. Located under right cover.
Oh, and I ride in monsoons with my '10 TG.
