Default 2ndchance having 2nd thoughts (a little humor)

I just hate to chop my 2015 two-tone Chieftain in half to get a trike, so I been researching sidecars. Today I was looking at some rigs on-line when my wife walked by and started looking also, she said I would ride with you in that I just don't like riding behind you on two wheels. BANG! I can now see myself with a Hannigan sidecar rig.

Question - I read conflicting info on tires motorcycle or car tires, and where do they go.
Do you have to disconnect the sidecar to change the rear tire. I know the steer-lite is a must.

    Thanks

    2ndchance,
Thanks for your Post and questions.

We take the Stance of continuing to run Motorcycle Tires on the Bike when used as a Tug for a Sidecar. UNLESS the Rig is specifically designed and produced to run Automotive style Tires (such as the HMS HP Sidecar). We advise running standard Bike Tires on your Chieftain when mating to the HMS Heritage Sidecar.

It is not a "Requirement" to remove the Sidecar to change the rear Bike Tire. However, it is obviously easier to perform that swap with the Sidecar removed. Also most Bike/Tire Shops are not equipped with proper Lift(s) to accommodate the Rig intact and prefer to have the Sidecar removed prior to replacing a Bike Tire.
Not an issue as with only 2 Combination Wrenches and about 10-12 minutes you can have the Car off and same to reinstall. You only have to remove 4 Bolts at the Bike Mount side of the connecting Struts, a Quick-Disconnect Brake Fitting (much akin to a high-pressure Air Chuck), and a Male-Female Electrical Connector and Ta-Da! It's Off or On without the need or necessity of adjusting or re-alignment. Simplicity at its finest.

All the best in your decision and we appreciate the opportunity to earn your business and trust regardless of which direction you take.

Saw two different Hannigan sidecars this weekend and yes, they were on an Indian, they looked great. Terry spoke to one of the owners and they love it.

I have never seen a sidecar rig, but I am currently reading any info I come across concerning sidecars. In some of the forums I am looking at the participants kind of scare me about wanting a sidecar, but I plan on going ahead with my choice. Granddaughter need to do home work got to go, got a lot more to say I will be back.

Most of the info I'm reading refers to quite a bit of off-road riding, I will strictly be riding on the slab with what I see as a pretty big rig. It would be nice to hear from sidecarist that ride strictly on the slab. It would bolster my will to do this (gonna do it anyway).

well I have been riding with my current sidecar for about 10 years we don't tour ride much anymore but use to no problem at all,,, a 300-350 mile run in a day is not uncommon even now if we are enjoying ourselves. wife loves the sidecar plenty of room for all her stuff!! when we stop for a break someone always has a question about the setup,,, and kids can't resist it so watch out for sticky hand prints in sidecar!!

can't speak for other models of hacks or bikes, but we owned/rode a GW for 7 yrs w/a Hannigan Astro Sport attached. we live 40 miles from the factory. we bought, order, and had it installed at the Murray business. it was a great combination and completely trouble free for those 7 yrs.

we had them install the electric camber control, aka lean control on ours. worked like a charm. the control switch was handle bar mounted.

2ndchance we have both options for the Indian on our Heritage Sidecar. The Electronic Camber Control (ECC) is available on them as well as the Steer Lite kit for increasing the rake on the front of the bike which can dramatically reduce steering input required as well as reduce head shake from rough/uneven terrain while on the road. Combined both make for a very compliant and solid feel while enjoying the open road.

Please feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have.

Hannigan builds a beautiful sidecar rig specifically built to match the styling of your Indian and they've been building sidecars for many years and are masters of their craft. You wont go wrong with a Hannigan sidecar and if you decide at some point in the future to go with a Hannigan trike conversion, you can always sell the sidecar.

Someone just posted a picture of a willow and cream Vintage with a Hannigan sidecar on the Indian Owner Facebook page. All I can say, is..... it is beautiful and classic looking.

For those that have not bumped into a post I posted someplace else, I did it ... I did it ... I did it. I placed my order for the Heritage sidecar.
