It was the Honda frame cracks and had nothing to do with any trike manufacturer. There is no way to know the numbers, but Honda did a recall of sorts and had the frames welded.

Mine was one of them ... recall covered it.
I saved some with photos back when that was a popular item for the recall, The recall is still open and if yours has been checked there's a Punch mark by the VIN under the side cover..... I had my 2003 inspected but always wondered if they really looked every where.... 72,000 so far.....
"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
I think there is some confusion about frame crack history.
Some say mine was done, which could mean, inspected, or gussets added
for repair or preventive ideas. Im surprised cracks show up all over
in un related area's to each other. Many models had problems, but most not this serious.
When its a bad design confidence is gone for me, just my 2 cents.
I passed up a BMW LT for the dry clutch and did that on another beemer 1200.
This seems bad, but that can be changed if it fails in high miles.
Although its my first Honda, I'v ridden since the 60's, owned a Tool & Die shop 36 years, and made parts for Planes, Boats, Trucks, Bikes, Caterpillar.
The resolution to a problem includes cost risk and company accountants.
Honda used the trike excuse to screw us.
But Have a wonderful ride fellow un intentional test pilots.
Dont toutch the switches ! what ?
Mine had the crack in the third pic ... looked just like that ... while they had it on it's sides, they rewelded all the welds and added some gussets. There wasn't a welder in this burg that met the Honda spec's, so they scheduled 6 bikes at a time and Honda sent a welder here. Gave me more of a warm fuzzy knowing a Honda rep did it. We actually got to watch the process ... pretty scary getting to the welding stage, but kewl to watch the rep actually weld it up. This dude was fast and good.
My thanks to Moon Motors Honda all brands Mn.
Im feeling better visiting Earl Moon, the best mechanic I see for many years.
My frame was re welded years ago where the welds were lite from Honda.
Being new to Wings, I asked to check it out, and check the anti dive valve, stuck.
The brake fluid was old and dirty, thats not Honda's fault. Some people are cheap.
The brake re call might include all wings. I left with new master Cyls and flushed again.
Then I found trike dealer who did 600+ kits and he saw almost no crack problems.
If your trike wasn't re welding when this was news, A local Tig welder can save the bike.
We are looking forward to traveling with the Dragon wagon.

Not completely correct!
Warranty claim may be denied if failure/defect is determined to be caused by any unauthorized part(s) or modification(s).
So, as far as trike conversions go, even if a bike dealer does the install, you're likely to a drive train defect or failure denied, if the bike manufacturer becomes aware the bike has been triked!

2001 - 2004 Revised Recall Notice for Possible Frame Cracks Dated 2009 - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...5V027-3828.pdf
This is all 18 Pages about the Honda Frame Recall / PLEASE NOTE: This is noted on many pages in these Recall pages / NOTE: TRIKES AND VEHICLES WITH SIDECARS ATTACHED ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS SAFETY RECALL.
As I own a 2003 GL 1800 these are fine bikes and some have said may be a little better built and have some better performance characteristics than newer bikes. I would never pass up one of these bikes if it has been run thru the frame recall procedure and has lower miles / see the DOT / PUNCH Location in this RECALL to see if your bike or a Prospective Purchase bike has been inspected. Get it inspected prior to purchase to safe guard your purchase, it is a Recall and should be done no charge. My bike had no issues. As folks have doubts about these year models of bikes sometimes they may be bought at cheaper prices.... so don't pass them up as they were built in Marysville...USA...So if your considering one of these bikes to Trike, get your Recall Inspection Prior to Triking so the inspection is covered.... Just FYI
