Why just a 6 cylinder?
That fancy chassis is just screaming for a 5.0!!!
Started on the engine.Cleaned the best I could in the parts washer and started putting it back together. It was going good until I tried to press the cam gear off.It shattered like glass. Now to find one.I got the crankshaft and pistons and rods back in and torqued .

That would be the cheapest way believe it or not,and the small block v8 is what most do because of easy to do and more power for the $$$.I want something different than everyone else ,so It's a 6 cyclinder, and trying to get that 50's and 60's hot rod look. But the problem is ,it cost more for no more to add power.

thats a nice looking ride in the pic.
I done a little more to the engine today.I put the crank and cam gear on,got the camshaft in the block ,front plate and timing cover installed.Yesterday I took the head to machine shop to have .100 milled off and the valves sunk the same amount.I won't get much done until I get that back.It will be over a week before it's ready.
I stopped by my machine shop today. They are running a little over a week behind . So the engine head is not done yet.looks like it will be another week before I will be able to pick it up.
Fabricater, What happened to updates? Or did you start a new thread and I missed it. Thanks DJ
I have not done to much on the truck for a while.I have been working a lot and got side tracked on my trike and motorcycle camper. Also saving money for a west coast trip on the trike at the end of June. The truck has got side lined some.I have got a few parts to finish the engine assembly, but have not got to it yet.I have got 2 trike weekend trips in the last few weeks.Lots of things to get done right now.i might not get much done until we get back from the west coast.
Sounds like you have a lot on you platter. I understand the excitement in getting ready for a trip. I hope to schedule a trip myself from home to South Padre Island, TX. to Prescott, AZ. to Deadwood, SD. and back home. Big dreams long trip.
Last year we put 7,000 miles on a trip to the West Coast, Idaho, Organ, California, lots of fun.
Have fun and be Safe. DJ
Bet that inline six creates some serious torque ... the pistons look huge

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!
Wow!.. Coming along nicely, i really love these old truck's. I'm glad that you are sharing the build here on the fourm. Bikes, old cars and trucks they all go hand in hand. Only wish my wallet allowed for more toys and time...can't have toys if ypu don't have the time to enjoy them!

I can get the link to work on my old iPad but not my new one. I am not sure why that is
