I guy I knew, when learning to ride a motorcycle, couldn't remember which way to turn the throttle. To him it made sense to turn it forward to go faster and backwards to go slower...............After thinking about that I have to agree with him, makes more sense than the way it is.

Not sure if I have free time or I just forgot everything I was suppose to do.
Retired and highly recommend it.
I could of used that not long ago. I had transient global amnesia. Look it up weirdest thing ever happened 2 me! Actually a little scary.
Had a neighbor one time that had a Cushman Eagle that the throttle was reversed to work like posted above. He let me ride it and I ran it right into a fence. I was used to a normal throttle and when I got close to the fence I kept trying to shut the throttle down normally and just gassed it right into the fence. Would be a good anti-theft device!

I had a ATC back in the early 80's ? before Honda came out with one. It had a 340 Kaw engine.
And a motorcycle twist grip... 3 of my friends got hurt on it [2broke bones].. When they went to stop and grab the hand brake they would also twist the throttle Ouch!. Thats probably why all ATV's now have thumb throttles.

When I was a kid the family went on a vacation and on our way out of town we stopped at a family friends Yamaha shop. One of the mechanics road raced his Ducati on the weekends, and when my Dad admired his bike the mechanic offered to let my Dad take it for a test ride. My Dad had had a number of American and English motorcycles as a younger man and then moved on to Japanese bikes as many did in the 1960's. The mechanic made sure to remind my Dad that the Ducati had the shifter on the right and the rear brake lever on the left. My Dad said no problem, he had been riding motorcycles all of his life.
He took off down the alley next to the shop and rode down to the end then turned around and headed back toward the shop. We were all in the alley watching him and just before he got to us he went to slow down and put on the rear brake, but habit took over.....and he hit the shifter which downshifted and caused the bike to lurch forward which caused him to pull back on the throttle. Luckily he had the presence of mind to pull on the front brake and lay the bike down on its side. He went sliding past us at speed and heading for the busy street in front of the shop. Thank God that the bike stopped just as the wheels slid into the gutter, and as an 18 wheeler rumbled by.
We ran to him as he was getting up, and his pant leg was worn away from his waist to the cuff, and his leg looked like raw hamburger meat. I noticed a penny in the streak of blood in the driveway. I picked it up and it literally folded in half in my fingers. It had been in his pocket when he went down and he had slid far enough that it was ground paper thin. No broken bones, but a very unpleasant rest of our vacation for my Dad.
