If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Great post Sully but, no thank you!!! I'm not really afraid of heights but I think that's a little too much for me.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!
Forget the dizzy effect. My knee's hurt just looking at that climb!!!
I would sooner be dropped hanging down from a helicopter than climb that high.
Why the hard hat? He should be wearing a parachute.

These were tools of my trade in all seasons. Over the years I've climbed thousands of telephone poles, sometimes spending hours at the top repairing aerial cable enclosures. Most poles I only belted in after I reached the top, but others were so large it was a must to belt in at the bottom because you couldn't hold on with one hard while you hooked your safety belt around the pole at the top. I've seen several people slip and hug a pole, a natural tendency, all the way down several times in my career and they looked like a bloody peg board when they reached the bottom from the gouges in the pole from previous climbs. Not a pretty site to say the least. I'm not talking about small splinters, but chunks of wood embedded over your entire body. It never happened to me, but I have rode a broken pole that was rotted underground and the experience was what I imagine to be similar to riding a bucking bronco. It slings you when the steel strand reaches full tension bounce after bounce like the momentum of a swing. I was just lucky enough that it wasn't an end pole.
If "Plan A" didn't work.

If you ride a pole today, the nails and staples would join the splinters
