Default My Stallion service and mods/enhancements

Just took my Stallion to my mechanic with a laundry list of things to do:

    1. Adjust front shock from 1st position to 2nd position.DO THIS!! Ride is ever so much better!

    2. Install remote battery terminals in trunk.

Do this! Batter went dead previously and I had to pull wheel and change battery by myself...and I only have one arm. (Took longer than for a normal guy, but hey, I got it done.)

    3. Install new horn.Original horn's fuse had been pulled because original owner said horn would go off by itself and drain battery. I had one of those Wolo Bad Boy air horns installed as the other owner who mounted one on the top of front fork did. I love it...LOUD!! (Side note...there is evidently a loose wire or something amiss in the steering wheel or somewhere as the new horn would also toot without warning, short toots thankfully (did I mention it is LOUD?), only when parked, never while riding.

The plan is to install a toggle to kill horn except while riding. I figure that will be less expensive than tearing into wiring bundle from steering wheel, which could monkey up something else that is working properly.

    4. Make original power socket work again (wasn't working) and install a dual USB charger outlet in the dash and another one in the side of the "hump" in front of passenger. Nice!

    5. Fix AC. (Never worked since I bought the bike used.) Found bad "o" ring, replaced and recharged. Amazed at how nice it feels to have AC!!

    6. Do the rear air suspension adjustment that is mentioned in another post where you adjust a valve that keeps the psi close to where you want it when you start the trike. It works!

    7. Change engine oil and filter and replace with synthetic.

    Done.

    8. Fix coolant leak. (Required new radiator...GRRRRR!) TBMS gave me part number of F5CZ8005A. Mechanic says is 1995 Escort radiator. Big job to replace. Worth it for peace of mind.

    9. One of the front hub covers had a screw that would not tighten. Guessing original owner had the wheel off and monkeyed the threads for the little hub cover up. Hub cover reattached. A little thing, but I like it being complete.

Added plus -- when I used to back up, brakes made horrendous noise...since both wheels were off at mechanics and reinstalled...not a peep.

Maybe torque of lugs? Maybe some misalignment of rotor. Don't know and don't care...it is better now.

    Previous enhancements:

    1. Had a piece welded under the hitch behind ball with a hole on either side to attach safety chains from trailer.

    2. The trailer light connector from trike just sort of hung from under rear...not really easy to connect trailer plug one-handed while holding both and trying to plug in...able to do it but not fast, easy, or fun. Had the trike plug mounted in a holder on a piece of steel out from the hitch (behind ball so as to not interfere with tongue).

I did the front shock thingy first thing a few years ago. I also softened up the rear ones, wouldn't go back. I didn't want to drill holes in the trunk for the battery, so I attached a #6 cable to the positive side of the battery and made it accessible on the rear of the bike. It can be grounded to the hitch. I removed that oem "foghorn" within the first two weeks and replaced with a stebel air horn, https://www.scooterworks.com/Stebel-...Q2MaAsCf8P8HAQ

I installed it in the same location where the oem horn was located. It is a lot of work to access. The right section of the shroud in front of the engine has to be removed.

I have some new chromoly heim joints for the brake caliper rods. I am fixing to replace the oem ones. One report on here of one breaking. Then I think I will be good to go.

A/C always worked, never had any coolant leaks other than a loose clamp.

TnTrikeRider , glad to hear everything is going good & getting done . The stallion is a great trike, drives like a go-kart , gas on right & brake on left . We run a go-kart track , & yes I have had my stallion on the track ,but I am not going to say who won the race .lol But I know I can beat them all going backwards Good luck with stallion , & thanks for the tip about plugging in a trailer , that can be a little bugger at times .

Good to see that everything is working for you now. The rear brake noise was a problem for me also. I removed the two blots that held the brake caliper and put grease under the rubber cups. Then I replaced them and the noise was gone, hope it last.

    Hi,

I just bought a 2008 3 weeks ago, Can you tell me more about your Number 6?

    6. Do the rear air suspension adjustment that is mentioned in another post where you adjust a valve that keeps the psi close to where you want it when you start the trike. It works!

I have to keep adding air to mine as I drive because it keeps bleeding off, is this what your referring to with this suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Greg
