Thanks man. I was trying to replicate what was in my memory from, day after day, sitting on the curb after elementary school watching the bikes ride by on Westminster Blvd.

That's a good question. Depending on which fishtails you got, they may fit past the bumper, out of the box.

I think it would be close on bumper clearance for the stock length.

I have Samson Fishtails on my Softail, and really like them a lot. But I don't think any of them will fit a Tri-Glide without some modifications. The nice thing about the Samsons is that you can get them in a variety of lengths, so you could get some just a bit longer than stock and they would clear.

No matter what ones you get, they will mean you will have to go up driveways at an angle so as not to drag them.

If the o/p goes with the H-D Street Cannons and the Screaming Eagle Fishtails as I did, that combination will clear the factory or Rivco bumper if he has one w/o issue

Stock mufflers..I was under the impression the fishtails were for stock exhaust.Guess I need to do a more research. Or read the instructions.

Being stockers are tapered, you might be able to slip them on and drill the mount holes. Also stick out to clear your bumper Just a thought.

OMG ............. That would look like crap ! The inner end cap of the street cannon exhaust is designed to accept the "stinger" that the fishtails mount to using a combination of cap head allen bolts and chrome countersunk exterior screws. The assembly and subassembly pieces are well thought out. Considering their cost, why would one even think of bastardizing the works and end up destroying not only the fishtails, but one's OEM muffler cans in the process ?

Those are not true fishtail caps, an most but not all advertised on evil bay are what is called, rocket tips, but seller calls them fishtails to reel ya in.

Many people and many sellers call them fishtails, aint so.

I have several sets, one new from Samson, and its a different breed of cat than those pictured. I had a set of softail fishtails, from Harley on my previous trike and fell in love, such a lovely sound, not too harsh like my fishtails that i had in my wreck.

The Samsons are probably same same, loud, not a lovely throaty sound, but i have toyed with the idea of installing baffles wrapped in fiberglass or whatever would give them a good sound for many miles.

Soooo i think they be rockets, not fishtails that Ive know and loved, but hey, they still look good and there's a set on evil bay that ive considered, $97.50 free shipping, its a deal compared to the rest at a much higher price, fishtails forever, forever fishtails.

Notice the top pic is rockets, the bottom pic is fishtails. And so it goes.

Top ones are for staggered duals. Bottom one piece for touring as evidenced by the mounting points. The ones for the Street Cannon mufflers are simply one of many different tips available for the SC mufflers from the MoCo in the P&A catalog. I for one don't put much stock in the ones on the bay unless they are factory takeoffs
