    Default Rear brakes

Anybody else had their rear brakes not release completely.
I am talking about the parking brake. It seems that mine has
been dragging a little with being noticed, just a very little drag
over time ( I guess) and very little dust on the right rim. Dust
only on the right side. I mean it would coast down a very slight
down hill grade with no trouble.
Now the parking brake goes all the way down and I can still push
the trike by hand. I know Harley is going to say I ride with
the brake on and is not covered. Gonna jack it up tomorrow
and check the brakes and not use the parking brake any more.

Your parking brake probably was set [adjusted too tight] It should just hold the trike from rolling... That said stop using it when you park' Just leave it in first gear..
.Also as the brakes wear a little the park brakes will need constant adjustment..

Three clicks for the 2016 tri seems to tight to me.
I just think the parking brake never released 100%.

I have found it helps to release the pedal with some authority.
Push down to release with your toe, then slide off the pedal and let the pedal "snap" back up.
It's when you "Ride" the pedal upward with your toe after releasing that you can get only a partial release, which causes dragging.

I have been doing that. Some times when I move the tri by hand in the garage I could hear the right side kind of moan proly brake rubbing just a little bit. Took off both wheels and everything turns real easy no rubbing sound. No more parking brake for me.

Go to Home Depot, or Lowes and get a strip of Velcro Cargo wrap. The back sticks to the front so it will lay flat. Use it on the front brake lever for parking. Wrap it around the lever & throttle grip. The brake light won't come on until the switch is on. When not in use leave it wrapped around the handlebars.
Then don't even worry about the park brake.

My 2014 with 25K has had the cable adjusted about 6 times. It is more about stretching in the cable than brake wear. Properly adjusted per the manual it should hold firm at the 4th click down.

If you keep just slamming it down you will continue to stretch the cable .... and constantly need adjusting.

Having built an experimental aircraft ..... I know the difference between aircraft grade cable and H-D standard steel cable.

It may not be the best design ... but IMO 2014+ parking brakes are an improvement over the previous 2009-2013 pull lever.

    Thanks HDBOB
I might try and adjust it then ride it after using the parking brake feel the rotor and see if its hot. Funny tho its only the right side.

I had the battery go dead in my 2016 already. HD said bad cell and replaced battery. I also told them about the rear brakes. I guess the wrench guy adjusted them so now they hold and release ok. Didn't get to talk to the wrench to see what else he did. (clean and lube) maybe. Don't plan to use the brake very much if I can remember. Oh battery was always on a tender when not be ridden.

Default Changed drum brakes to disc.

I have a 1999 Goldwing 1500 trike. It had drum brakes which were always in need of adjustment. After wearing out my front disc brakes on a very long trip I decided to do a converson. I replaced the drums brakes with disc brakes. The parts car was a 2001 Cougar. I had to do some machine work on the axle face and the rotors so the wheel wouldn't be to far apart and rub the fenders. I am disappointed with the results, my stopping power isn't any better. I've tried talking to people about it but no one has been helpful, I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas. Thanks in advance !
