    Default 2017 and PowerVision?

OK, I have enjoyed the benefits of using the PowerVision with my '14 TG. Now that I have updated by trading my '14 in for the '17, which already runs way better, I still have the PV on the shelf, and was waiting until I had some miles on it (350 now) and mostly until DynoJet came out with maps for the new M8. Now that they have, I can get a new license and use it on the new bike. Since I haven't seen anything posted here yet, I was wondering if anyone else has started using the PowerVision on the new bikes?

We've heard the same thing with Indians. Tuner on that flashes the ECM voids warranty. But I can tell you this, the PVCX for Indian is the best thing I've done to my bike. Really woke it up and dropped dramatically the heat issue we all have with these bikes. Personally I wouldn't do anything until you get at least 10,000 miles on any bike. Just to make sure it's not going to grenade on you. I also think at some point they'll get stricter with tuners in general. The EPA is just trying to ruin the internal combustion engine with their ridiculously strict regulations. Now companies are using the warranty as a scare tactic as well.

Harley sure is getting finicky about things done to bikes. A week ago I was at a dealer and ask the parts person about tuners since they got rid of the race one they had because of the govt, he told me they have another one but basically it doesn't do much good, it won't do the air/fuel on it so basically it looks to me a download would be better and I'm not sure but I don't think the download does the air/fuel mixture, like I said I don't know for sure.

If harley doesn't ease up on certain things, they may be in trouble if not already for sales. You have to have a certain exhaust, certain tuner, etc etc so you don't void your warranty, me for what I want to do, I will wait until my warranty has expired.

As sloufoot said it depends on the dealer,my dealer said yes Harley will void your warranty,if they know. But they would warranty their bikes if they do the download using a power vision or the TTS. That's great as long as you aren't out on the road and have an issue. But at least they are willing to work with their customers.

What your saying seems to be the case with a lot of dealers out there. The question would be what will they do if the Moco has to get involved? Will they flip or hold steady on there words or promises.

My local dealer will not install any after market parts anymore here in California because of all this EPA stuff. Here in CA rumor has it checks and smog checks in 2018 have heard these rumors before who knows. If they follow through and start checking bikes it's going to be a real problem if your bike mods are wrong. Beautiful state but the politics, taxs and loonytoon agency's plain out suck. Also a lot of the left wing loons here fall into the same category.

I am tired of dealing with it all my self and will be leaving this state of CA when I retire. I have a great job (ten years left to go).

Our 2017 Tri Glide with the M8 runs and sounds good enough that I will be leaving it stock.

As said I don't want to deal with what's coming here and has been coming for a while.

Sorry about the CA rant but this state plain out sucks. What a shame because it is so pretty and has so many beautiful places to ride. Let's hope other states don't follow suit with CA type policy as they do so many times.

    Trampus all good points.

For me here in California it won't matter all the bike manufacturers are being pressured hard to the same EPA rules and standard and all will follow suit.

No real choice other than Harley for me sound, feel and looks wise. Indians got to much Victory influence and I don't care for Victorys looks at all. Also none of the Japanese bikes do anything for me.

I followed my job to California and hated every think about it except my motorcycles rides there. Took me 20 years to worm a job back to Texas so I could retire here. I never want to see that state again unless they make 70% of them leave. That state is the melting pot of left leaning socialist that will change America forever if they get a chance. They steal water to live in a desert and think it's normal. So they raise taxes or create more taxes to steal money to support their stealing lifestyle. Common sense is not used there so no one has any. I just can't imagine America like that. It would turn into a third world country almost overnight.

I could not agree with you more brother..... There are a few of us here in California that are not like the 70% plus that you mentioned that I wish would go to another country or planet for that fact.

I see it as the USA is tipping. The west coast is sinking as the east coast is rising above sea level. He'll just the other day our state changed all the "above sea level " signs and added 10. Either the USA will flip over or just become a sinking barge.

Bill G and Hogcowboy, I couldn't agree more!

My job takes me from sunny Florida to sunny California to support operations from time to time. As pretty as the central California coast is, with tons of great riding, I just wouldn't be able to deal with the absolutely no mods position the state takes on vehicles. That, plus the gas is almost 50% higher than in Florida... no thanks, I will stay put! I do still plan on making the Route 66 Chicago to Santa Monica trip next year, but I will be able to leave CA in my mirrors after the trip.

Not to hy jack the thread.
My brother-in-law Worked for Martin Marietta (sp) in California for quite a few years & retired from them.
He moved to Idaho & bought a home here. When California found out they collected taxes from his retirement for 5 years before they would let him go.
Good old California ! I think if you move out of state before you retire(if you can TRANSFER WITH YOUR COMPANY) you can beat that.

I also lived in that politically corrupt state and now living in Idaho. Let's not forget there are some really good things that come from California, like my wife of 25 years.

Now that they have, I can get a new license and use it on the new bike. Since I haven't seen anything posted here yet, I was wondering if anyone else has started using the PowerVision on the new bikes?
I'm in the same position as you, with good results from the PV on my 2014 TG & would really like to get my PV re licensed & get a starter map from fuel moto for my 2017.
I travel a lot & as some I'm concerned about warranty issues out on the road.
If you do decide to use your PV on your 2017 please let us all know how it all works out & the improvement it makes.

I was at the dealer last weekend, and cautiously approached the service manager on the subject of aftermarket performance additions and the dealership's position. When ha asked what specifically, and I said fuel tuners, he indicated that they used HD and a number of aftermarket. When I mentioned PowerVision, he stated that they had no problem with them at all.

When questioned about warranty, he said "If you burn a hole in a piston and they could show that it was a result of the tuner, the warranty was gone, but they had never seen anything like that with just the use of a fuel tuner, but rather that they had with the addition of a hiflow AC and slipons without tuning.

There you go... you pays your money and you takes your chances. However, as Kevin has indicated, with a stock bike using a PowerVision, you can always load the original factory tune before taking it into the dealer and they would not be able to see any changes.

I've always wondered if even though you reloaded the stock tune back into the ECM if there was a way the warranty powers to be could tell that the ECM had been altered at one time?

Jack, you will love it and never look back!! I have had mine since 2013 and would not be w/o it. I also have the Target Tune module with it and run the "wide band' sensors full time. It is an awesome tuner and with gauges set-up you can monitor ever sensor on the Trike.

Good luck with the tuner should you actually purchase one. I would suggest also that if you purchase one, I would on purchase from Jamie at "Fuel Moto" as their customer service and knowledge regarding this tuner is even superior to Dyno Jet!!

I bought mine from DK, since I have purchased a LOT from them, and Kevin & Co. have always provided super customer service. When you buy from DK, it comes from and you are registered directly with Fuel Moto, and have all their customer service and knowledge regarding this tuner, as well as the excellent service from DK.
