Finally, Trike in the Atlanta Rain

The Atlanta area broke a 132 year old record this morning. For the first time in 42 days, we are having measurable rainfall. So this morning, I was able to ride to work in the rain (for the first time) on my new 2017 Harley Tri Glide. I loved riding the trike in the rain today. I felt so safe and stable. I was able to take turns and corners quicker/faster than on two wheels, not that I was trying to go fast, I was just testing. I had zero anxiety riding in the rain today, as opposed to riding in the rain on 2 wheels and the stress that went with it. Being in the rain today never bothered me once. I never felt stressed or unsafe on the wet pavement or with the wet “road snakes” that can be slippery. I just love my trike and the peace and happiness it brings.

When people ask me how safe is it riding a trike in the rain...

I might get wet but i won't fall over....

I have been caught in the rain more times since switching to a trike this year than ever before,probably because of the lack of fear of having it slide out from under me.

Last trip thru Atlanta some punks thru a plastic bag out the window, I hit hit and caught my trike un fire, I was pissed but OK

My Tri-Glide i good for about 3 inches of snow' Just gotta remember to stay off the front brake' Or the front tire will become a ski... Oh yea the ''A'' holes in four wheel drive vehicles who think four wheel drive melts ice, Watch out for them...

Many of us have experienced hydroplane in heavy rains or standing water. Please be aware of the effect on wider tires and relative low weight on them. The lift point varies with conditions, tire wear and of course, speed. Three wheels will give you confidence but there is a limit.

I know exactly what you mean. I ride year round and have ridden TG's for thousands of miles in the rain. It's a whole different ballgame than on 2 wheels.

Ice and snow is a little scary, rain in this part of the world is not common but when it does it is heavy and a lot in a hurry. A few times the water was deep enough that the rain was scooped up by the front of the rear fender and it sure gets your attention when the rain rolls up the back of your leg. Now the wind is a serious issue here. Today, the gusts hit 60mph in the flats and 96mph was recorded in the mountain pass behind the house. The sand will eat the finish off the bike, cars, etc and a full face windshield is a must. Jim
