Welcome Waldo and congrats on the new ride. As we have said on this forum numerous times it seems strange at first. Give yourself at least 500 miles just to start getting comfortable. After a 1000 or so you will be saying "What took me so long to switch?" We all have. I've been on 3 since January 2009 and have logged almost 120k miles. I rode 2 wheels for 50 years. I will jump on a 2 wheeler and enjoy the ride, but I want my TRI back when I'm done. Love the touring on the TRI.

Welcome to the world of "not putting your foot down"!!!! First time I rode with the club after getting mine, I replied to the "KSU at 9am"......... Asked the Road Captain what did KSU mean? (Since I didn't have one anymore) He got ribbed hard when he replied back to me telling me what it meant! Have fun with it and like Gorilla says give it a few miles, it will grow on you!

Don't know how tall you are, but you might think about just the 2" pullback bar and leave your hands at the same height.

I have the Krome werks 2+2 bars and like them alot. I am only 5'6" so, if you are on the short side, they are worth it. They do put u up straight and you are definately not bent forward.

Set your curve speed before you enter then about 1/2 way thru it power out.

The Khrome Werks 2+2 narrow Sweepers are great, I'm 5'7" with 29" sleeve and they work great for me.

as for cornering, set your speed before entry and when you hit the apex add a little throttle and power out. A little practice and you'll be fine.

as for two wheels, yes I still miss it but my wife won't ride two wheels anymore, age, so I'd rather have the wife with me than ride two wheels. Maybe a sporty or something later to go along with the TG.

Hi and Welcome. I can't help with the handlebars. I'll be looking for some different ones myself soon I think. I got my Tri Glide this year. It took me a long time to trust that powering out of a curve would feel better and safer than coasting through it....but it's true. Just a little power about halfway through the curve and the trike kind of settles itself (for lack of a better way to explain it). Also, looking through the curve helps.

    Good luck.

Stop at your HD dealer and the parts specialist will have you sit on your TG.....close your eyes, lift your arms/hands up...leave in that position....that's where your handlebars should be located. I had ridden over 60K miles on my '09TG and now '13 TG and before I had back surgery....had the handlebars changed out, moved my highway pegs all the way to the bottom. After last year's back issues fixed, I can almost fall asleep at the wheel. I'm using the stock seat with a sheepskin cover and gel pad underneath.

You need more miles and stop over-thinking the Tri-Glide....it will take you and the wife where you want to go!!!

    - - - Updated - - -

.....and, do you have the floorboard extenders installed? Also, get rid of that stock windshield...you don't wan to look thru the shield, OVER IT. Get the KlockWerks windshield from your dealer....I have 8.5 and wouldn't have any other windshield on my Tri-Glide.

Waldo, I'm 5'9" and put the 2+2 wide sweepers on my tike; best decision I have made so far. I used to have to lean forward also but the bars cured that. If you decide to change to the Sweepers, you do not have to change the brake or clutch lines. Also the TBW is fine; I did use the extensions on my other wires just to make it easier, you can get away without them. Total labor should only be 1.5 hrs. You can find the bars on line for less than $100

Bars are a subjective preference... what feels good to one will be all wrong for another. Take a look around at other riders and see what they are using, and most would gladly (I think) let you check their setup out for feel. I am 5' 5" and went with the HD reduced reach bars on my '14 TG. Over 50K miles later I traded it in on the "17, and was happy enough with the bars that I had the dealer install them on the new one. By the way, they also come in black and with the wires run inside the bars, they look as sweet as they feel!

    Again, just my opinion

My tri really needed them Khrome Werks wide 2+2 sweepers. It solved my problems but to each their own solution. bars are an individual thing.

Welcome to 3 wheels.I got my first trike this past April, knee and hip issues for myself and the wife.I at first didnt like it was so used to riding 2 wheels for 45 years, but the wife truly loved it.Now for me it took about 2000 miles for me to get really comfortable with it,one thing i found that helped me in corners is pressing down on the opposite floor board,if going left press down on the right board, helps with the feeling that you will tip over. Also in a sweeper i have found that it helps to lock your elbow and push with your upper body. Now there are members on here who have 10's of thousands of miles on three wheels so listen to all the advise and find what works for you.Just give it time dont rush it.

Does that price include the handlebars? I had the 2" sweepers ($154.95) installed on my '13 Tri-Glide. Labor was $215. New ISO grips installed $79.99. Shorter clutch cable required....total price was was less than $500! Best investment I made.

    Default width of bars and..

I think the grip angle may be a few degrees different and overall width wide are 34.3 narrow I believe are 30... Check out Khrome Werks website they list all and different measurements as well. Best of all they don't rob you when making a purchase. ride safely fearless. I have a busted up wrist and need the straighter grip for comfort I believe Casper installed narrow ones...........
