    Default Tupperware removal

I had my fork seals replaced Now the linkage for the feet warmers is not connected. How much tupperware do I have to remove to get to it.

There should have been very little Tupperware removed. The dash gauge pod pulls partially out and is bungied up out of the way. Why not get the shop to make it right?

See Fred Harmon's pictorial below for 'steering stem bearing replacement' which would be the same starting process for removing/replacing the front forks/seals, but does not require the removal of the trees. It will show you what steps the shop took to access and facilitate the front fork removal. Pics 2 through 6 would apply to your situation.

If you need further assistance, PM me or get my cell phone number from my profile and give me a text or call any time.

Hey Bob. I bet the folks doing that fork over haul removed the top shelter. To do so, they would have to disconnect the cable from the foot warmer control behind the left pocket. You will need to remove the left beauty strip (vertical piece covering gap between left faring side and top) then remove the left pocket. Make sure you are very careful popping the beauty strip retainers lose. They are fairly fragile. Don't ask how I know ...... Start from the bottom and work you way up.

With aid of a flashlight and pair of long nose pliers you should be able to reconnect that cable to the control. It fits into a slot then the outer casing pops into a retainer clip.

    Hope that helps.

Not sure why the shop would have gotten into this area, because it is not at all necessary to do so to drop the fork tubes and change fork seals, but if they did for what ever reason, here is a a video of how to quickly and easily remove the trim strip and left side pocket as Jerry described above:

I forgot to mention I also had them replace the air filter. I have fixed the foot warmer linkage, but now I find they also left the radio antenna disconnected. I tried to remove the speaker covers to no avail.

    Bob,
In looking at your profile I see that you have a 2008 model and it comes off in a different manner than the 2006 and down. The video below shows how.

Note that the air filter replacement they did involves a LOT of parts removal so the problem could be one of several, possibly just an unplugged antenna wire under the seat if you are lucky, or maybe more. If you do the fix yourself, I would start by checking the antenna connection under the seat first.

I might suggest though, that you take it back to the dealer who created the problem and make him trouble shoot and correct the problem, otherwise you could be in for a job in tracing down and correcting it. See the link below:

Thanks a lot Bazooka. That is enough to convince me to let them fix it.

Good descision. I hope they get it right this time...I'd check everything before you leave their shop this go-round.
