So I just completed the new survey. They will most likely not be happy with my response to the survey questions. Other than a TPMS system, I really do not want more technology crammed into the Mo-Co's infotainment system. I do not have my phone sync'd to the bike. I do not want calls or text messages while I'm riding the bike. Nor, do I want an OnStar type of system on the bike that will report back to the mother ship how I'm riding or where I'm riding. I do not want it sending information that would allow for service reminders from them or my selling/servicing dealer. It is becoming more than evident that there are way to many in Milwaukee with too much time on their hands. They need to be fired now !This will boost profits and help the bottom line.

I don't like mine connected to the phone either, but simply because the only way it can be done is to be wired up to the bike. HD gives us no way of using any kind of wireless connection (at least that I know of). If bluetooth could be used to connect up to a helmet system, it would be so much better.

Some people like to tinker with computers and electronic gadgets, And when their in a position where they can add those features to a product will do so, And because it [To them] is easy to operate think is the best thing since shaving cream in a can.. You can see it happing on this forum, Me' I go by the KISS method ...

Yup............ An entire section devoted to cell phone use. Starts around pg 87 covers bluetooth. Starting on pg 91 up through 106 covers all that can be done with the phone.

I'm with you 1000% on this. I hate cell phones. I begrudgingly bought a Virgin Mobil prepay one a couple years ago to have in case of an emergency. $99/year is the cheapest one I can find. So far no emergencies so it's been a waste of money so far. It stays in the TourPac and only comes out to be recharged. If I could, I would make all cell phones disappear off the face of the earth.
I would execute anyone who was texting while driving and killed someone.
Other than a "REAL" emergency, I see no reason to own one.
Did I mention that I hate cell phones?

I'm sure it is going to be on the upcoming MY touring bikes within the next year or so. The issue for the MoCo is the size of the OnStar type module. In as much as they now offer Sirius-XM which is a satellite based signal, piggybacking off of that should not be an issue. The survey went to great lengths asking if any of my cars was equipped with such and did I use them. Navigation, Satellite radio, OnStar, etc. They listed all of the know telemetric systems used by the various car manufactures. What they did not ask was "Will I continue to use said services once the free trial subscription ends !" Had they, my answer would have been "NO !" I'm now sorry I did not cut and paste the pages as I went through it for all to see. I will do that the next time. My problem with this is that it will raise the cost of the touring line. What will be interesting is to see how it is incorporated into the other lines or if we will be the only ones stuck with it.

I do agree to some degree. They are handy to fact check my route choice against my maps and for quick traffic checks when approaching a major metro area. I do use it to make or cancel hotel reservations while enroute as I have the bad habit of making impromptu route changes. In as much as I ride solo, I will text the mrs and the kids so that they don't worry any more than they already do. Other than that, it stays in the pouch in the tour pack. Mine is to big as are most, to fit into the built in phone carrier in the fairing.

Yes, cell phone use driving and texting is a major issue. Sadly something drastic needs to be done to stop the death and damages this unreasonable use by idiots is causing. I hate to say it but if you kill or hurt someone useing a cell phone texting it should be dealt with in a very punishing way. Cell phone use is just plain out of control in this country. How many lives will be lost before something is done about the deaths and people being hurt by there use when driving.

I like and don't hate my cell phone but I wish they would not work while in a car period other than the use of 911. I bet this technology could easily be applied to phones. But could you imagine the out cry

I refuse to use my cell phone when driving period....People get pissed about my point of view about cell phones more often than not..

It will be interesting to see if TX ever adopts a no cell phone use while driving. Sadly as of late, I see more and more police driving one handed while talking on the cell phone and driving. Either in town or on the highway.

I like the idea of no cell phone while riding,one of the perks of riding.As far as the motor company or my selling dealer to be able to monitor my bikes performance through the info center,no thanks,As long as it is under warranty if there is a performance issue i will take it back.

One of the reasons OnStar extended the basic plan to cover the full 5 yr/60k period on all non commercial GM vehicles was to push maintenance services out to the vehicle owner/leasee. It was pushed by the dealer network. I simply don't want the hassle. I am more than able to see the check engine light if it comes on.

Oh it can be paired with it alright. And you can even see who is making your incoming call. What I'm referring to is talking over Bluetooth over the infotainment system. Can't be done that I can find unless you are wired into the bike using the jack on top of the tank. Hate that crap.

I tried that for a time. I just stick to the channels I can bring in over the radio. I figure it won't be long before we see the Sirius-XM module along with an OnStar style telmetrics system installed from the factory on the fairing equipped touring bikes. Won't be an option either as it was in the early days for cars. Both will drive up the cost of new bikes initially. Both will come with a free trial period as they do now in new cars and pickups. There is evidently lots of money to be made in subscription renewals for the moco to continue to ignore these items.

Yup, that seems to be the latest thing. Emails, reminder cards in the mail, etc. Much more accurate targeting what with the car being tied by telmetrics to a central system. By providing the basic notification system for free, they can legally say they have X number of active subscribers. Notice that none of them ever release the figures for how many paid subscribers they have ?
