Has anyone here replaced the push button lock system with something like motor trike uses? I'am fed up with the stock and my mind is wondering and that is dangerous.

I'am doing the research and have a couple options in mind but need to do some measuring first and it's too cold to do that today but have two days in a row next week in the 70's and this makes burning some gas mandatory. I'll keep you posted as to if any of my ideas will work

I have 26K on my 2014.
I keep the lock button lubed and do not slam the trunk. Push gently until it clicks. No issues at all.
Custom cars use handle-less systems to open their vehicles.

I agree with the above. I have over 60K miles on 2 TG's and not one problem with the trunk locks.
I'm constantly watching other owners slamming the trunk lid. DUH!!

This time I let Harley replace the broken lock. They get it in and all put back together, close the door and now the door won't open so they wind up breaking that lock. New one on order, again, but they don't have a shipping date. Now this crap has been going on 3 weeks this time. Wish I had never bought the thing although I do love riding it. So I drive by couple days ago and really study the set up and I think I have come up with a way to put a Motor Trike type of lock on it then they can take that button and shove it where the sun don't shine. Pizzed? Might say so
When I had my tri ... I started thinking of going to a T handle type that is used on truck camper shells ... not that I
had issues with mine since I started lubing once a month and gently pushing it closed. I thought the T handle would help with the nostalgia look. You might consider looking into camper shell latches.
As a heads up, if the plastic on the lock is the only thing that broke, you can have them order ONLY the plastic sleeve on the lock and you won't have to wait for a new lock they have to have re-keyed to your OEM key. How do I know - when mine broke, they ordered a whole new lock with a ridiculous wait time so we (parts person is a personal friend) reviewed the lock break-down list (as well as the diagram) and ordered only the plastic sleeve and received it in about 3 days. We left the order in for the complete new lock and waited for it to be re-keyed and when it arrived, the key to fit the lock was NOT a match for my OEM key so I have an extra lock/key in my parts drawer in the garage!!

lol I thought I had a problem with my trunk latch too but like you I've found out from others here that it really works just fine with lots of oil and a limp wrist to push it closed with. sheesh
P.S. Just kidding, HD needs to recall them latches. I'm sick of messing with it too. They can do better than this!

If you do the different latch help us all out by posting a picture and a "HOW DUE" post. Good luck and thanks.

Polock48, from what I can tell looking in my 2016 Trike Models Parts Catalog, the sleeve or "bezel" as it is labeled in the diagram, is PN 83987-09 and it comes with O ring 10927. If this is the correct part (and I encourage you to check it with a dealer to make sure I am looking at the correct piece) it is showing at NewCastle as $6.06.

Up date: I have got this lock replacement worked out but it will only work on the Lehman built bodies. There is a web site called truckcaportopperreplacementparts and they have more stuff than I ever dreamed was even made. The lock system on the Lehman bodies is turned by a 1/4 inch square shaft operating the cable releases. Next time you have one break order a lockable "t" handle long shaft unir from these folks and throw away the OEM lock then drill two holds using the "t" handle rear flange as a template, guide the long squrae shaft through the square hole bolt it to the trike boody using lock nuts, problem solved. Cost, about $30.00
Thanks for the update info. Jim
