Big butt VS windshield

So the light went out in my shop, I climbed on to the blazer I am tearing apart to replace the bulb.
I slipped and landed butt first on the windshield. I have a big butt so I shattered a big portion of the windshield. I also put a nasty cut on the back of my leg from I think the windshield wiper motor.

Anyway now I am trying to get this broken windshield out and glass bits are going everywhere.
The molding is hard and not coming out very good
I am thinking about covering it in duct tape before I try again then kicking it out with my feet.

any better ideas?

I've used spray adhesive and then paper. When it dries, you can remove the glass safely ... the duct tape idea should work too ... but might be more labor intensive and make it harder to remove. I've never done the duct tape thing, so it might even be easier.

Duct tape should work. We have used it to help remove car windows doing rescue tech work in the fire service to keep glass from getting on the patient in the vehicle.

The glass is glued in there is no molding holding it in. Its designed to keep you in the car in an accident. I've actually cut the glass with tin snips if its crunched enough. You're gonna junk the car yes? So all you need is a hole big enough to see to steer it out of there right?

I've seen window guys use thin wire between the glass and the window frame to cut through the bonding glue.

I just watched a youtube video of that, but not so sure it would work on a badly broken windshield. One might be able to improvise without the particular tool being used with assistance.

The windshield is smashed and the vehicle is so old the sealant is hard.

Tonight BEFORE Beer and Boxing I am going to tape it up and kick it out then use the shop vac to clean up the mess.

Today its hurting more than it did yesterday.
I just had a tetanus shot not to long ago when I ground 1/2 the way through one of my fingers so I should be good there
Funny thing that one never hurt that bad. It was worse then the cut I have now and this time it hurts worse.

I just come to live with the fact that I cut, grind, burn and all kinds of other bad things to my body. I dont like it but its just a fact of life for me.

Well video of that operation that'll provide some entertainment. Try not to let this project hurt ya to bad. When I was in the body shop guy cut them out with what looked to be a sawzall with about a 3" wide blade. Made quick work of that job.

I didn't see the year of the Blazer he is tearing apart. I think it was something like 1969 they first came out. If it is an early one the windshield may be the old rubber molding type of installation, and the rubber molding hardened over the years. Either way, glued or rubber molding it seems some sort of cutting is in his future. the duct (duck) tape should work, I would do both sides to contain any glass that came off the windshield. Don't need the good stuff, the cheap rolls from the dollar store will work just fine.

The molding around the window is hard and will not come loose
The Sealant seems to be harden also

Yep plan to stop and get cheap tape on the way home. All I have now if Gorilla tape and its to expensive to use for this
