    Default Looking to change mufflers...

Had my FW almost two years and would like recommendations on new mufflers. Like the stock ones, but would like more power and a LITTLE louder, but not obnoxious (have really nice neighbors). I'm a retired teacher so money is no object (especially since I have none). Thanks for your help !!

V&H has them for the Free. Put them on my Tri and there a tad louder than stock. Also got my Lo end acceleration back. Very happy with them. Tried many others, either too loud or hurt performance. These will be keepers for me. As far as the OEM header pipe, it's pretty good for street use, dyno wise, there is not much of a difference than performance ones. Good luck, and I'm sure there's more comments to come.

screaming eagle cannons. no need to get a tuner. a little bit louder but not much. cheaper than others. does not affect your warranty. strictly bolt on and has a bit better throttle response with no popping. best muffler I ever bought

Nope, any changes made to the exhaust is against the EPA, The M8 and older trikes can handle 1 change but not 2 with out adding more fuel, The M8 with knock sensors is more forgiving than the TC

He has had his FW for 2 years .... It is almost out of warranty and is not a M8 motor.

If you want to go cheap Fullsac sells muffler re-core kits. http://fullsac.com/product/oem-hi-flow-muffler-kit/

If you like a tinny sound than by all means drill them out, But remember to have a another set of slip-ons on hand because once you drill them theres no un-drilling... Also most years the left side muffler has a restricter cone to even out the exhaust pulse's, Drill that out on a stock system and you will lose bottom end toque ......

I've installed the Rineheart slip on's on mine. They have a nice throaty sound and are not extremely loud.

What is loud to one person may be too quiet to another...sound is very subjective. ie. I know a lot of folks that like the Rinehart exhaust. To my ears they are loud and harsh, to others they are deep and throaty, and not too loud.

Performance, on the other hand, is objective.

The best performance from slip-ons can be had from Super Trapp style muffs...the kind with the discs. They are fairly quiet (to my ears), but not inexpensive.

Right behind those in performance are modified stock. This really surprised us, and what was even more surprising is that they have a good sound (to my ears). For very little money you can have slip-ons that look good, And that out perform almost every other slip-on available.

    Give a listen here-

Another slip-on option, that is also a nice deep tone, not too loud (to my ears) and has very good performance are the Hi Rollers. They look nice also with the Billet end cap. But, they are also more expensive.

I put on the Cobra 900s and am very happy with them. This am I went out to the garage and started up my 2010 EG Custom and then my 2016 Freewheeler to let them warm up and get some oil circulating. The Freewheeler is not as loud as the Custom (that has Screaming Eagle slipons) but has a deeper throatier sound that I really like.

They really improved performance with the FP3 tuner and K&N filter. The mufflers look good, too. I bought them on eBay and got a great deal with free shipping. I looked it up but the place I bought it from did not come up.

    Have fun making your selection.

I just did a complete baffle cutout on my Freewheeler ... it was pretty easy and I didn't have to remove the mufflers from the bike ... just get a 3 1/2" bimetal hole saw for your drill and drill (cut/saw) out the plate in the rear of the mufflers ... the entire baffle will come out and then you can use a long screw driver to loosen the fiberglass packing inside the mufflers ... once it's loose grab it with some vice grips and twist and pull until it comes out ... if you're careful it should come out in one piece ... My bike sounds and runs pretty good just like this (cat is still in the head pipe so they are loud now but not 'super loud' ... if you want more control over the back pressure and sound you can install "Lollypops" in the pipes (make your own ) or buy these Thunder Torque inserts ... http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/Thun...nserts_c57.htm ...

Just cut the whole baffle out , sounds great (like a Vance and Hines Exhaust ) and cost about 35.00 or less ... 3 1/2" bi-metal whole saw for your drill ... that's it ... Just cut the metal plate out of the end of the muffler and , boom, done !

Default slip on's for 2017 freewheeler

Love the sound and look of these on your FW! Does anyone know if these or any other non Harley slip ons will work on a 2017 FW? The street cannons just don't cut it for me and I'm having a hard time finding anything to customize my 17 FW.... seems like all harley dealers can do is read you their catalog. Thanks!

My experience with aftermarket mufflers on performance cars has made me very suspicious. Most hurt power altho the owners thought otherwise. Does anybody have dino data for the various mufflers recommended?

    Default Mufflers

Went to the Harley dealership Friday was going to buy some VH slip on mufflers for my 2017 FW. He is what I was told by the salesperson and then they took me to service dept. If I put on the VH mufflers I need to get it tuned and would be better if I put a stage one kit on it too. 4 hrs labor and tune parts $800, mufflers were $429 extra. They told me that the motors were burning up without re tune the motor. Is this BS or is the dealer full of it? I want a Harley sound.
