When the m/c's are shipped from either York or K C, they are set to transportation mode. It is explained in detail in the owner's manual. This keeps the security system from energising in transit. The dealer is supposed to reverse the setting during the PDI. Some of the set up peeps have no clue as to how to do it.

I know alot of people like the security systems on their bikes, but if I would decide to get a new trike, I would not want it on. We don't have it on our 2010 TG and I'm very happy I don't !! I've always said if someone wants it that bad, an alarm system won't stop em, beside there's more things to go wrong with it installed, just my opinion...

Good luck with that. It has become a standard item on the touring line. No longer an option. To remove it requires the purchase and installation of a new module as the module also controls the turn signal function. Then, you have to have the dealer use the tech II to make the new module talk to the primary ECM. All of this needs to be done at a dealership. If you try to change out the module at home, you will not get the bike to start.

There is also a run disable that is activated with the alarm. Not just an alarm going off. The siren you have to buy extra anyway. Your insurance is higher without an alarm system. Higher also if you have an alarm that doesn't self arm after you shut the ignition down. If you disable an alarm system on a bike that was on from factory, and it gets stolen I would bet the insurance company might have things to tell you that you wouldn't want to hear.
