FL-XIED-10 on a 2015 Freewheeler
For those that have these on their bikes or trikes do they?
1. Make a noticeable difference in cooling down the motor?
2. Do they improve the gas mileage or is the gas mileage lowered?
3. Do they cause any codes to come up?
4. If they cause codes do the codes go away by themselves if they are taken off or do you have to have a dealer reset them?

Are you asking about the gizmos that can be added in series with your 02 sensors to change the reading to the ECM and make the injectors stay open longer? If you are, I had a set put on my bike at Bike Week a couple years ago and they do keep the bike from running as lean. I can't see any difference in mileage and my 2012 Tglide isn't producing any codes. The bike does run smoother and produces a little (and I mean a little) more power. You're not going to be able to feel any less heat on the outside of the engine. The few hundred of degrees it reduces inside the combustion chamber isn't going to be noticeable outside.

Once I saw what it is, it's easy to install if you're half way mechanically inclined.

Look at DK's form about cooling the trike down and go from there. You will find it very interesting and maybe solving your problems..........

I have a set on one of my Sportsters, so I will offer my input...

They will richen the fuel mixture, causing a less-lean condition. This will lower temps slightly and reduce some of the pinging you may be experiencing.

Your gas mileage will likely go down just a bit due to a little more fuel being used to richen the fuel/air ratio, but not a significant difference.

I have not experienced any codes being set.

In my case, the bike ran better with the XIED's than without them. When I installed them, it took approximately 100 miles to "smooth out"... it takes the ECM a while to compensate and adjust. They will not offer the performance of a tuner, but do help the lean factory condition.

On a related note... the ECM can compensate for quite a bit of variance. This past summer we were on a ride in the UP of Michigan and my wife lost one of the baffles out of her V&H exhaust system in the middle of BFE. This made quite a bit of difference in backpressure between the two cylinders and I couldn't get the other baffle out along the road. She rode it conservatively until we were able to get to a dealership, and the ECM was able to compensate enough to prevent damage and it still ran fine.
