Before everyone gets upset let me explain! I just recently got a 2016 Tri Glide and have been gathering info on these forum pages. Several posts have commented about using a "rear" tire on the front but mounting it in reverse rotation for increased life,

How about mounting a narrow automobile tire ( with rounded edges) to extend the front lofe farther. I know we ride a little different than the two wheelers and the bike is almost setting straight on the rubber 90% of the time. Even at full turn, the front tire is still no where near riding the sidewall as on a two wheeler.

i only have 4K on the trike so this is not an immediate option, but just asking the consensus of the viewing audience.

There are no "car" tires that fit the front!!!
There is, however, now a trike specific front tire made by Avon.

Nick, DeputyDawg is correct about the Avon trike tire. They make a 16 inch for Harleys and an 18 inch for Hondas. I put the 16 inch Avon trike tire on my 2003 ultra classic conversion trike about a year ago and noticed that it handled curves better on my first ride. The tread also appears to be holding up better than the stock Harley tire. The only thing I had a problem with is getting the correct tire. There are two Avon 16 inch tires with very similar numbers, one is for two wheels and the other for trikes. All of the trike tires will have Trike on the sidewall.

I'm running a rear tire reversed up front on my TG.

I would be open to running a car tire. I know a lot of folks run car tires on their 2 wheelers.

If you find one that fits, post it up.

Welcome aboard Nick. As Kevin stated You can take the rear tire for a touring HD that is 16 in and put it on the front. I got 25k on the one that I did. The issue of a car tire has been discussed before and no one was able to find a car tire narrow enough to fit between the stock forks. If you do alot of us will be thrilled to try it.

Welcome to the forum. I will be facing the front tire issue soon, I have a tire and wheel damage package on the extended warranty. I talked to the service manager about the dealership installing a rear tire, reversed. He said they have done it before and the only requirement is I have to sign a statement that I am requesting the service and the warranty for the tire will not be valid and that the dealership will not be responsible. At least they will do it with the signed release. My dealership said are you crazy and "no way". Our liability insurance would not cover such a dump act...

Same thing happened at an Indy shop I used for tires. They mounted them for awhile but then decided there was too much liability and they wouldn't mount a rear tire on the front wheel any longer. They never could give me a good answer as to what caused their change of mind. I ran rear tires on the front of my GL1800 trike and never had an issue. I would run one on my Freewheeler if I could find a 19" rear motorcycle or car tire that would fit.

After several hours of looking and googleing, I found exactly ZERO car tires that will fit the front. They have several in the 130 to 150 metric sizes BUT they are emergency spare tires and are for 50MPH max. I did find several that are in the 170/50 series, but they would be 6+ inches wide and wont clear the Trikes front fender. Found a good tire conversion chart in " The Dark Side" Forum, and lots of tires for the rear of many different bikes. But few in the 16" rim size for the TriGlide! The search continues .........

Even with a signed release, If something gos wrong with that tire, In a court of law, The installer is considered an expert , And the bike owner is considered a layman...A signed release does not negate negligence.. i.e. The expert should refuse to do it if he thinks its wrong..
And having the customer sign a release 'Says the Expert knows its wrong to do...
