Need Help!

Well, was trying install the Love Jugs on my 16 Tri Glide. While trying to remove rubber damper from horn mount bracket, I completely ripped the rubber damper off the mount. The only recourse I see is to remove the tank and take the horn mount bracket off the heads. Unless some one else has a better idea. If not, I need the torque specs for the two bolts that hold the horn mount bracket.

Are you speaking of the rubber part with the stud built into it ?

isn't there a nut behind the rubber mount to hold it to the bracket.

The rubber mounts are studded on both sides

Yes, the rubber part twisted and broke off.

I wished there was a nut, first thing I checked. From what I can see it just bolted through, what is on the back is smooth.

The problem was I was trying to remove rubber damper, so I put Love Jugs on and it twisted off. I am trying to remove the rest of the rubber damper but unable to get a pair of vice grips on it. Going have to remove the tank to take this bracket off and put it in a vise or buy a new one.
Still need the torque specs for those two bolts I have to remove. Anyone have a service manual for a 103, that give me the torque specs?

I can't help on the torque specs, On my 11 Tri. i can remove the bracket without having to remove the gas tank

The stud is held in with red loctite; you will need to use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat it up before you can get it out. It is not easy, but since the rubber is already gone heat and vice grips should do the job

I am confused. If the stud goes through the bushing why not buy a replacement at Ace and slide it over the stud.

I am not positive but they maybe welding the rubber mount stud to the back of the mounting plate then grinding down the weld to smooth it out.

From the pictures I have seen can you just raise the back of the gas tank to get it high enough to remove the mount?

You might want to include inch pounds or foot pounds.

The rubber bushing has a threaded rod running though the center of it,
[Think all thread] And it screws directly into the mount'..

Stud does not go always thru. there is a rubber dampener in between, which what I ripped trying to take it off.

According to my 2016 HD service manual page 7-61, the following torque values are for these 3 horn parts:

Horn bracket to cylinder head screws 35-40 ft lbs.
Horn rubber mount 120-180 inch lbs. (with red thread locker)
Horn bracket Acorn nut 80-120 inch lbs.

This is what 1dn5up said,just left the inch part off, but I am sure he knew everyone knew better than to use ft lbs on the rubber mount and acorn nut!
