Second foot surgery in a year has me suffering PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) and PTSD (parked trike sucks disorder). It is especially bad since the weather has been so nice and good for riding. It's my shifter foot so doc says no way for now.

That sucks... Not quite the same, Back in the 80's i broke my left ankle, [Snowmobiling] And i drove to Manhattan every day, Doc's orders or not' I had to drive... So instead of Using my GTi 16v, I switch over to my wife's Automatic Rabbit...If i had that problem now and couldn't ride the Trike...??..

I'm like an old race horse..... I can still run the race -- Just ache more at the finish line and need more rest between outings.
I go a little crazy if I don't get on my bike or trike at least once a week. Back in '99 I had an infection on my spine. As soon as I was able to lift my HD FLH off its kickstand, I was riding again. Strapped the cane to the fairing. Needed a back brace and rode to physical therapy and my doctor. Had to watch potholes and speed bumps (caused spasms). My doctor just smiled and shook his head.
In Aug '00 rode on my honeymoon to Sturgis. Wasn't sure if I would be able to get off ground while camping or not. Touch and go a couple of times.
Hey John, how about a boot cast to protect the foot.
I feel for you. I am pretty much off the trike until the heart doc gets thru with me. Be safe when you get back to riding. Jim

Boy do I know exactly how you feel. 5 years ago I had a serious wreck. Nearly died and probably should have. But after 8 operations and going thru rehab 5 times(yes 5 times), and one operation being a complete ankle replacement, I can't walk and ride again. Bought and rode a replacement bike home just 3 days after being released from the last rehab. Riding came back okay but driving a car was different. Learning how to control the gas petal was just plain strange. Even though my mind said to ease on the gas, it didn't work that way. It was either nothing or peddle to the metal. There was a complete disconnect of brain to foot. So I was burning rubber for about a week until I learned how to gently push down on the gas peddle. My wife was in fear those first few days. And on cold days or in cold doctor's offices I still have trouble making that foot do what I want. It's crazy. So good luck !!!!

Hey Jerry.
I hope you have all your fun and mine too. I had just recovered enough last year when we had gotten together, and now it looks like I'm out for another couple of months again. Same deal. After reading some of the responses, I can definitely say getting old is not for sissies. I was hoping that by doing this in the winter, I would not miss much riding time. I keep forgetting that we only have a few days of winter in this part of Texas. And the weather has been so nice, I am missing a lot. So enjoy all you can and I'll just sit here and mope.
Good suggestion. Unfortunately, it would not work since I have long past removed my heel shifter and getting any kind of boot under the toe shifter would require modifications that I can't do right now. But believe me, I have thought about it. I do wear a type of shoe during recovery, but there is hardly no protection on the top of the foot where the stitches are.
I had open heart surgery to replace a valve in mid-September and have not ridden since. Fortunately with the winter weather it has not been a big loss but I am anxious for a nice sunny day...
Hope you mend up.

Being a woman, I can get a ride on the passenger seat a motorcycle or trike and no one thinks any less of me. Life is wonderful.
