    Default Puncture

I am a first time owner of a 2017 Tri Glide Ultra, after over 50 years of motorcycling
    Life catches up with you
My question is: If you have a puncture, whilst out on the road, what is the best equipment to take with you? I realise it is not possible to locate the exact problem
if it is on a rear tyre, is the best action to take the emergency tyre weld, or equivalent. Bearing in mind no tools supplied with my new trike
Also what method is best for changing a rear tyre in the garage at home?

Suggestions and help would be very much appreciated please

I am located in the North of England, where there is only one dealer within 80miles.

    Welcome from the other Jersey....

I carry a can of Tire sealer, And also i tire plug kit with Co2 cartridges, Knock on wood i never had to use it on my Trikes... Years ago i did have a flat on the rear tire of my VTX, And i just plug it, added sealer and went on my way..I rode over 6 thousand miles with that plugged tire.. Changing a rear tire, is just like you would with a car...

Same here. I live in the desert and sometimes the closest repair place is 100+ miles away. Jim

I have a Stop-n-Go engine pump kit that hooks to the spark plug hole. No need to carry a cumbersome pump or multiple bottles of C02. Works fantastic, fills a tire in about 3 seconds.

At home I have a J&S trike lift. Works fine. Easy rear tire removal.

Its been a long time since I have heard that someone uses the engine pump to fill tires. I COULD BE WRONG, but I thought they banned them cause some one suffered serious burns to their face when the gas fumes they force into the tire exploded while smoking and changing tires

NO GAS FUMES WERE EVER PUMPED INTO THE TIRES!!! Big misconception.
Only fresh air was pumped into the tires. I just contacted Stop-n-Go and Bill Merriman. Said they discontinued that model because they couldn't get the 18mm Fresh Air Plug anymore and they didn't sell that well. But they still have all the other sizes and hoses available. I can't figure out why it didn't sell, it was so compact compared to all other types of repair kits. I'm glad mine still works.

One tip I can give you is replace the glue every year. It dries out over time - found that out the hard way.

Buy a cheap kit and throw away everything except the glue.

They probably did not sell well because there are too many riders like me who think the engine has to cool before you can use the pump. Maybe you don't, but I think that.

I didn't get one [stop&go] because i 'If i had a flat i didn't want to have to pull a spark plug wire, then pull a plug, And then reverse the process....When there are better no tool ways to inflate a tire...

By the time we stopped, removed all the luggage, found the kit, got out the kit, located the hole, cleaned the hole, inserted the plug, the engine was touchable. Even if you're in a hurry(why), if you're careful it can be done without burning yourself. I did a trial run as soon as I got it see the pitfalls - you just have to be slow and watch what you're doing.

I like the fix a flat thing .. but .. If I use it, I make sure I tell the mechanic I did when I get the new tire ... that stuff makes a mess that's much easier to deal with if you know it's in there.

I used to carry Stop & Go mushroom plugs w/application gun kit. It did get me home but even though the plugs won't pull out they will slip inside the tire.
I also have great concern using them with steel belted tires. The mushroom plugs are soft rubber only and I wonder what the steel wires do to the plugs over time riding down the road.
Just my personal experiences but I switched to carrying the Safety-Seal kit. A little larger to carry but I've used them on cars, zero turn mowers, tractor etc. without any issues.

That is exactly why I use RideOn. No mess!+ it balances the tire. Find a nail, pull it and "RideOn"
