Hello
I have been to both years. the first year their was no vendors
really, and then the second year there were a few more if you are into vendors not a place to go but if you are into riding some
of the most beautiful roads around the country this is the place.
lots of great people to meet and talk with especially putting faces to forum names. I camped both years (koa, whistlers gulch) both nice. Haven't made plans for this year yet. Great
place to ride.

Nice thing about the Deadwood gtg is that it's held before the place is overrun for Sturgis.

Thanks guys. Been out there (not rally) several times. Just curious about a trike rally. Of course it is also nice to see some vendors, cause HD doesn't do everything.
I quit buying from vendors at ralleys. I'd sooner support my local dealership or indie. They are the ones I depend on.

Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally (July 11-16) has a block of rooms set aside at First Gold Hotel under "3 Wheeler Rally." On May 15th the room block will be let go. It is important for you to call (online reservations cannot be made) and get your room before May 15th if you want to stay across the street from the actual event. Reserve a room by calling 1-800-274-1876.
For a look at the tentative schedule of events and to download the event registration form to participate in the rally check out http://www.D3wr.com

I am also considering the rally. It looks like it will be after Sturgis or am I looking at these dates wrong? Will be traveling out west and heading back through northern states and then back down home (Florida) July to August, so the rally dates will probably work.
Any additional suggestions for a CG? Will be pulling trike trailer with a 38' motorhome. Would like a CG with longer pull thru sites and 50amp service within 20 miles of Deadwood.
Hi Joe,
Here's a link to a few campgrounds around the Deadwood SD area... http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions...akota/deadwood. It would be wise to book your spot early as they fill up fast during the summer tourist season. See you sometime during the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally in July 11th - 16th. Take care...
Regards,

I may have to visit this rally, I know there ar some good camp grounds near rapid city on 16 also, they are clean, got pleant of restrooms and hot showers, and most of all they are quite, they are not round the clock partying like some of the camp ground during the black hills rally.
I like Deadwood casino's because in 4 trips out there I have always came away a winner with more cash leaving than I had before I sat in front of the first slot machine.
Hank,
Not only do we have plenty of nice campgrounds to choose from and gaming (slot) machines that pay out far too often, as you found out, but our trike rallies are pretty nice as well. Hope you visit the rally's website: www.d3wr.com where you can get most of the details about the rally, what's scheduled and where you can register. Hope to see you and many other TT members there.

I am coming over 4,600 miles to the rally instead of a straight 2,200 miles from our home due to a stop in Salem Oregon and a couple other places. But even if I was only coming from 500 miles away I certainly would like to see some vendors. Even if I don't buy anything doesn't it just add to the whole "rally" atmosphere?
We are leaving from SW Florida for the Deadwood rally this coming Saturday. I realize it is over 3 months away but we are making a few other stops first, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and then S. Dakota. I figure that will be less than 2,000 miles on the Trike and just over 4,600 miles on the motorhome.
I may be reaching out from time to time asking for advise or local information from members here, like restaurants, attractions, and other things in your areas. Hopefully not RV or Harley repair facilities.
Not going to make the rally this year. Have thought about it the last couple years but just didn't work into our schedule. The past 7 years the wife and I have participated with our local HOG Chapter doing the "Needles Run" during "Wild Bill Days" Father's Day weekend in Deadwood. We leave Jamestown on Friday and ride to Deadwood, ride the Black Hills area on Saturday and come back on Sunday. The last four years a small group of us leave on either Wednesday or Thursday and make a little longer ride out there and spend two day riding the hills. While we haven't stayed at First Gold we do breakfast everyday we are in Deadwood. Their buffet is great anytime whether for breakfast or dinner. Weekends they have a prime rib buffet for $19. Breakfast is $11. and has loads of breakfast items and made to order omelets. The past couple years we stayed at Deadwood Station Inn which is just at the top of the hill above First Gold. First Gold has limited parking out front but has a big parking ramp. You have a little trip to go from room to parking ramp. Deadwood Station is two story with parking out in front of the rooms and outside access to the rooms. Both places are served by the trolley about every 20 minutes or so and take you downtown Deadwood for a dollar or two each way.
This year I have a small group of three other bikes going with the wife and I out to Meridian, ID for the Pacific Northwest HOG Rally July 20-22. We are leaving here on July 17 which is the day after the rally ends in Deadwood. Otherwise we might have taken it in. The Black Hills are a great place to ride and there are so many scenic roads. Make sure and do Spearfish Canyon, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road and the Custer State Park Wildlife Loop. Other great rides are going from Deadwood down to Hill City on Hwy 385 (which you will ride if going down to Needles Highway), Hwy 244 which is the backside of the Needles and you also get glimpses of Mt. Rushmore from the backside before coming out in front of it on the way to Keystone. The road to Nemo is also a nice ride. Main thing is to get out and ride.

Planning on two years from now. One trip so far this year (a really terrible cruise), plus the eclipse, then up to the northeastern foreign countries and environs for a 13 day bus trip. Next year is DC for as long as it takes to see everything I want to see.
