Rear Lift Kit on Freewheeler

I'm stoked and looking forward to my transition to Trike although I have a few months to wait. So a few questions and advice please.



Regarding the HD Rear lift Kit,

I like the sound of this as I guess cornering at reasonable speeds is one of my main concerns. I like to ride consistently at speeds.

Has anyone any knowledge of how the HD Rear Lift Kit compares to the DK Customs On Board Lift Kit.

The DK system looks a great system and from watching a Youtube video of it it looks functional and quite impressive.



We will probably have the HD Boom handlebar speakers.

Do these perform well with a standard screen fitted?

I was not aware that Harley-Davidson was making a Lift Kit. Do you have a link?

Thanks for the useful links. I like the idea of the on-board compressor to dial in exact pressure where needed.

I'd prefer the flexibility rather than fixed brackets. How big is the compressor?

I was led to believe HD do a fixed bracket raising the rear an 1' 1/2.

I don't have a link as it's a suggestion from someone else.

Hi Phil,

We have Harley Dealers all over the world that buy the Lift Kits from us...that is probably what was being referred to.

I know what you mean about preferring the onboard compressor. It is very nice to be able to change the PSI/ride height/ride comfort by fingertip control.

The Complete Bolt-On Air Ride System measures 9" x 4.75" x 7". It takes up less the 4% of the trunk space on a Tri-Glide and less than 9% of the space on a Freewheeler.

The DIY Air Ride Builders Kit takes even less space, but does require assembly. All the components come with it, but it is not assembled and mounted in a box. This means some work on your part, but also gives flexibility to install it where ever you want, so you don't need to take up any trunk space. The measurements of the actual compressor are: 6.25" x 4.25" x 2.25".

My dealer recommended the DK comfort lift for improved ride and handling! I told him I have it but hav'nt installed it yet.

I put it in a couple days ago and only rode it about 3 miles! It seemed like it did smooth out the ride and turned a little quicker; but havn't had a chance for a longer better eval. yet! Too much going on! Like the raised look tho!

We've just returned from our dealer having done all the paperwork for our Freewheeler.

A few months too wait but exciting none the less.

The Freewheeler in standard form tracks the road like a sports car! The comfort lift should smooth out the bumps! We will see?

All 1.25" lift kits have the potential for the swingarm to contact the z-pipe on the exhaust when the wheels are off the ground while installing...this is more likely on a M8 that has a boogered up weld from the factory. However, it has been a possibility on all HD Trikes for the last 8 years. It is easily dealt with during installation.

There are thousands of Comfort Lifts™ installed on all year models of HD trikes. It is a much nicer ride, and better handling too.

I have a used 2015 FW and it sits about 5.5 inches off the ground. Is there a brand mark or part number I could look for to see if the kit had been installed?

I measured from the bottom of the tailpipe to the garage floor.

Took a 70 mi put yesterday with the new comfort lift and the ride is noticeably smoother as well as the handling! In a left or right hand turn without a stop it flows thru it faster and smoother! It's worth the effort in my book; we have a lot of bumpy roads down here in Southern Arizona! May have to raise my headlight just a little? The trike sits nice with the lift I have the Amber whisky just like the pic in DK add above.

My 2015 with the comfort lift is about 6.5" to the bottom of 4" Rush big louis slash cut mufflers so I would say no to having a lift kit! and no there are no markings on the steel lift plates. Hope this helps!

There is no mark on the plate, but if it has a nut welded to the plate at the lower shock mount, it is probably a lift kit. My stock plate did not have a nut welded to it
