My 2012 with 30K on it when I traded it for my 2014. It just now turned 32K. I did break down and installed as et of Cobra Race Pro slipons because the sound was so deeeeeep and mellow (not loud). I also bought a SE Stage 1 air cleaner kit(haven't installed it yet).
I have never and will never do any engine modifications.

Lol... I said I don't plan on changing much.. The AC is not to much it is just one little piece. Lol.. I really wanted to clean up the looks of the factory air box to be honest with you. The power gain was a plus and I liked that.
I totally agree with you on your testing finds on the new M8 engine concerning AC units and the power gains without a tune if the rest is left stock. Also like you, I think there is a lot of untapped power with the M8 engine. Other performance mods could really bring the power out if a guy wanted it.

Through Jesus Christ, I a sinner am saved. Not by my doing but through his doing by his sacrifice and Blood Shed on the Cross. His gift to all mankind that will only believe and accept him by Faith. Through his Death and Resurrection I am Saved by Grace and someday I will be with our Lord in Heaven forever.

Kevin, Thanks for clearing that up a bit. Who would have known that the same engine could run so much differently in terms of heat issues? I had suggested that there had been a "within subjects" mini design but in fact it was a "between subjects" situation (subjects=each bike) and the data really does not tell us much at this point. I guess at some point I am going to need to follow your recommendations about two 30 minute runs with and without the fans on and see what the cylinder heat temps do? Bob
That's the only real way to know if the fans on your bike are reducing the temperatures on your bike.
But, of course, all variables need to be the same on the two runs. Same ambient, same speed, same wind, same level ground, same everything, otherwise any variables can make the fans look better or worse than the really are.
Kevin
500 miles on My bone stock 2017 Tri and we love the bike, No heat issues yet as to us but bike does hit the EITMS real quick like within 4 mins of riding , The heat does no effect us yet but only 80s here. Time will tell. I would like to Thank Bill.G for his Stock air filter mod works great. I would like to get some more rumble from the stock pipes. Doc

2017 with 3500
I've got a 2012 bought it used with 3400 on the clock. It's now sitting around 7500, other than a few chrome goodies, the only thing I've done is put a lift kit on it. It does run hot like so many others. Power seems to be decent. I'm looking a decatting it, with a better air cleaner system, and possibly at some point a stage 1. I'm also very interested in a post on here currently about getting it to run cooler.
Trailridr, agree on the decatting and a better AC system, However, one other thing I would strongly suggest is to install an EBS (external breather system) that you can purchase from DK Customs. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable regarding the importance of this system and will lead you in the proper direction on this as well as other systems to improve the performance and to cool things down. He is one of the sponsor of this site, and is readily available via a phone call or e-mail!!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do with you ride!!

Im old school, The more I do to an engine for performance the more I will have to do for performance.
I do have a mild cam in my 80" evo. I am after longevity rather than speed.
My friend put a thundermax on his 2013 triglide and it does make a difference, I think his biggest problem was lugging his engine being to lazy to downshift on a hill?
The thundermax made up for his sloth.
