    Default New trailer

Decided to play with building a dual purpose trailer for the trike or a couple of 4 wheelers. About half the materials was given to me with plans for a 5 x 10 or 5 x 12 trailer. Tossed those and made a 6 x 12 with dual gates and a drop tail. Helps to have a son who welds for a living. All I need now is a wheel chock for the front wheel.

Maybe add a front wheel chock to snug it down.

Thanks. It was kind of fun to build and gave me and the son a project to do together. Any advice on the front wheel chock? I've heard some like one that clamps and others don't. I will rig it so it is removable as needed.

I like this one that fits on my trike model DropTail trailer. It is made to bolt and unbolt with 4 bolts and is a very easy loader.

Good looking trailer. Kinda curious about the tongue weight with the engine that far forward of the axle ??

I've never trailered but have several friend that do and they all have the Wheel-Dock setup. Really like it.

You may be surprised I have a trailer very similar to that and the way Triglides are balanced I would want to move the rear wheels almost overtop of the axle. Add the weight of the end gate ramp the trike should probably go forward. I loaded my trailer with a tractor and tiller like that and almost crashed while towing, tossed the blazer all over the road. Just sayin tongue weight needs to be enough to keep the trailer planted to go down the road safely. just sayin Fred

I agree 100% on tongue weight. Needs to be at least 12-16% of the total weight. Just looking at it would appear to have too much tongue weight where the trike is positioned.

When I lift my trike on a jack I must place the jack behind motor as far as I can and still need a little help up front to get the darn thing to balance. This tells me trikes are butt heavy not by alot but still butt heavy.

typed in the wrong place still trike needs forward a little to get weight correct.

    Wheel chock.

I have a Condor Wheel Chock, two wheel chocks from Harbor Freight and a single loop removable type. For the Trike I don't believe the Condor style is necessary, not that you can't use this type but I think they're more for a two wheeler than a trike.

inside my enclosed I'm installing the single loop style for the trike. Just my opinion.

the ones from HF where about 70.00. The Condor runs over 200.00. Your choice.

+1 on the condor.....great chock. I now have an enclosed trailer, but before I had one like yours....I built a stone guard to keep the front of the bike nick free. I built mine a bit high, but at the time I pulled behind a SUV. Like the trailer!
