My wifes trike
My wife has a GL1200A conversion. it doesn't seem to have very much clearance and I think the rear shocks are bad. I can ride with no problem, but when I have a passenger if scrapes on the smallest bump. will changing the shocks help with this? or with I have to change the shocks and find a way to raise it?
Welcome first change the shocks then see if you need more.

Are you using the original air shocks from the GL1200?
What brand of conversion is on the Wing?
You can change from an air shock to a regular one and go slightly longer.

Sorry it took so long to get back, been busy here. Yes they are the original air shocks, but I cannot find any controls for them. Is it possible that there is no compressor or anything for them? right now I am thinking I'll just put regular shocks on it.
Doing more checking, The shocks on my wife's trike look like the ones in this pic, but does not have the rubber boots. Are they necessary for them to work properly?
Also is there a fuse for the compressor? I did not see on in the fuse box.
The covers are there to keep dirt off the sliding part of the shock.
I have a fuse number for an 87 and an 86 GL1200A. The diagram shows a #7 10 amp fuse labeled 'Park'. another shows the #4 labeled 'Park'. There is an air pump relay. The air pump could be removed or broken. You can use a standard shock.

Thank you for the info. I thought that's what the rubber boots would be for. There are no controls for it. Looked it up to see what a compressor looks like didn't see one anywhere. I have found some standard shocks I just need to convince my wife to let me order them.
Was just able to go out to look at the fuses and there is not a fuse for 'pump'. I was wrong it is actually an interstate. the trunk says aspencade. the guy we bought it from is an older gentleman, and he likes working on bikes, but he can't really do it anymore so I think he has his son do it for him. there is a few things that there was obviously some shortcuts taken, so I have a feeling they were taking parts from an aspencade to upgrade their interstate. in other words in the research I have done it doesn't look like the interstates have air suspension, (at least my wife's didn't originally) and they put the airshocks on but nothing else. I cannot find controls for it, not even a compressor anywhere. so I want to thank everyone for their help, not sure I would have been able to figure it out this fast without it.

The GL1200I Interstate has analog gauges and the Aspencade is digital. On board air compressors are found on Aspencades, but not on Interstates. Your best bet is to go with a regular shock. Is the trike home made or a Wing with an older Lehman conversion? Can you post a pic of the trike for us. Thanks.

On the 93 Goldwing I had there was no problem with rubbing until I put a new set of tires on. The original tires were old and worn out when I got it,but the new tires had more tread so they would rub 2up but not with just me on it. I later found out that people were putting smaller tires on because the original factory size was was too large. Hope this helps.
If the trike has air shocks, remove the seat and follow the lines and you'll likely find a fill valve in a TEE. Often it's over on the right side under the seat behind that side cover but it could be anywhere.
Interstates had reflector across travel trunk, Aspencades had the lights .... popular upgrade years ago was to add the lights to the Interstate .... and leave the Aspencade lettering in place.
