Since installing the DK Custom Lift Kit, I had not had the dual LED headlamp and matching fog lamps adjusted. I got out my HD shop manuals for both the 2017 Touring Models and the Trike Models supplement and found that their description of how to adjust the headlights was a bit off in terms of simply being able to install a tool into two holes in the headlamp ring and get the proper adjustment.
I happened to be out cruising on a beautiful day and found myself in another State (Alabama) with a Harley dealer I had done business with in the past and had purchased a Road King from them. The dealership folks were super-nice and I was looking at the renovations going on and wandered back to the new service area. I asked one of the Service Writers if they had time to adjust the headlamp and two fog lights and the answer was a big, positive, yes. What terrific service. They even let me sit on the Tri Glide during the procedure in which I had aired up the tires and shocks to just where I wanted them before the ride and they quickly aligned the lamps with a guide they had installed on one of the doors. It only took the tech a few minutes and I could tell that it was not his "first rodeo" when he said that all you have to do is gently bump the fog lamps to get them positioned properly. I was kind of amazed at how much lower they were with the lift kit installed and now have them properly aimed. Since I only have 2600 miles on the trike and have not been driving it at night, it was not a big concern but I knew that I needed to attend to this task. The manuals were not particularly clear that you really needed to remove the lamp ring with one screw to easily get to the adjustment screws. Well, a big shoutout for Harley-Davidson of Dothan, Alabama. Dutch Holland and his son run the business and they have also added a separate powersports division with Can-Am to complement their full line of Harleys. I also happen to have a Can-Am trike and was interested to see, touch and sit on their 2017 models. A great group of folks in "Sweet Home Alabama" as it says on the sign when you come into the State. Even though the dealership is undergoing a transformation cosmetically and size wise, the true Southern hospitality rang loud and clear.
We here in the Tri State area known to the locals as "Florigabama" (Florida/Georgia/Alabama have some very friendly dealers that look for ways to treat their customers with the kind of care we used to know in the "good old days".
